Not the best children's dvd that I have seen. Admittedly only watched bits and pieces as I lost interest, as did my son.

What a lovely movie this is. My 8 year old daughter loved it. Characters well thought out and very funny. A simple story very well done without the over the top moral message that so many kids movies have these days. Highly recommended for those under 10 (and their parents).

Excellent graphics, and a great commentary on the suburban sprawl. Amazing how woodland creatures can adapt to eat junk food instead of nuts and berries. But the kids will just like the funny characters and the simple storyline.

Sticking with movies suitable for the holidays, this is my favourite so far. I found the story engaging, which is very unusual for this type of movie and I laughed out loud a number of times. It is visually very attractive and, I think, the best animation since Nemo and Shrek. It has a stellar cast of voices including Nick Nolte, Bruce Willis, William Shatner, Garry Shandling and Eugene Levy, whom I always admire. Hammy, the super-fast squirrel is worth the price of admission alone, particularly when he is given a dose of a high energy caffeine drink to further boost his speed. Guaranteed to keep the kids happy.

Beautifully animated with a real message under a deluge of product placements for mainly American junk food. The unthinking selfish suburban invasion of the lives and livelihoods of wild creatures, is captured perfectly in the hysterically fearful housewife who hires a pest exterminator to eliminate all the cute woodland creatures whose lives she has ruined by building on their land. The heroes of the story, the woodland creatures, are just doing what it takes to survive this invasion and the subsequent temptations of an endless supply of processed food inside the suburban houses. The local heavy, a grizzly bear, adds to the perils by promising dire consequences if his long shopping list of processed food isn't delivered on time.

This is a very cute and easy movie to watch. My 3 yr old son absolutely loved it and watched it over and again (so much so that Bigpond Movies were sending me emails asking for it back!!). I thought it was very suitable for him, and the characters were good. Great one for the kids (and we parents would get a laugh out of it too) It was fun to pick the voices too (eg: Bruce Willis, Nick Nolte and the Dad from the American Pie movies!!)

We watched this as my 3-year-old daughter absolutely loves other Dreamworks flicks like Shrek and Madagascar. I didn't think it was as funny for grown-ups as the other movies, and she found it a bit scary. It would probably suit a different age group, a bit disappointing really.

A good morality lesson in learning to trust your own instincts..unfortunately it pushes the concept that junk food is better than real food..so if you want your kids to eat well, then maybe this film is not for you.
