From director Rachid Bouchareb comes the Oscar nominated drama Outside the Law, which tells the epic story of three brothers struggling to find their way in a hostile and war-torn world.
After losing their family home in Algeria, three brothers and their mother are scattered across the globe. Messaoud joins the French army fighting in Indochina; Abdelkader becomes a leader of the Algerian independence movement in France and Said moves to Paris to make his fortune in the shady clubs and boxing halls of Pigalle. Gradually, their interconnecting destinies reunite them in the French capital, where freedom is a battle to be fought and won.

No where on the advertising did it mention this was a foreign language movie with subtitles.

Fantastic movie. Tells the story of Algeria gaining independence from France, from the Algerian perspective. Very enlightening and really drives the message home about how terrorism begins and blossoms. All credit to all involved in what must have been a mammoth task bringing to life and recreating this era in history. Nearly 2 1/2 hours long, but it went very quickly because this was totally engrossing. No American style chest beating heroes here, all characters were "real" and totally believable.
"Half a star" why bother to comment on this? It's made in France by French people ( and some Algerian too). They are not going to learn English especially for you.

Less than average - Two stars too many. Entire movie in foreign language, and all sub titled. Quite boring - did not enjoy at all.
