Good, but a little longwinded and seemed to go on forever. Animals and scenery were lovely.

This is an accurate movie about Kenya in the early 20th century, and the early days of the professional hunter, Most of the women who went to Africa, were really ahead of their times, they put up with a hard life, but enjoyed it, I liked this film

One of my all time favourites. Who wouldn't want to find Robert Redford in the middle of Africa. Merryl Streep is luminous, funny and strong. Would suggest it to everyone but especially for the soaring soundtrack, the floating camera work and the beauty of Africa. I now nearly know it word for word and have bought my own copy. Two of the bits to watch out for is the lioness encounter and 'shoo'.

Stunning scenery and photography, excellent actors and a fantastic story make this a must see again for the history of Africa's way of life and the scenery and the attitude of wild lions etc. A really great movie with nothing bad to say about it. Wish I could go there and experience the whole thing although the film gave a feeling of almost being there anyway. Loved it..

What can I say, Meryl Streep is brilliant. Best Actor of our time. Good story, good acting. Robert Redford is ok, but, a little out acted by Meryl.

I watched the DVD of this magnificent movie a few nights ago and feel compelled to write something about it. I was barely out of high school when I saw Out of Africa on its first release. I had not seen it since and what a treat it was to revisit. I can remember choking up at the end, despite being a brash youth, when I saw it for the first time. Everything about this film speaks of quality. Meryl Streep and Robert Redford are at the hight of their powers and deliver perfect performances. The film is beautiful to look at. I could never tire of watching the African landscape scenes. It captures a time and place that is long lost and can never be regained. If there is anything even better than the acting and the cinematography, then it is John Barry’s wonderful musical score. There are few films of recent times that stand up to this.

Truly magical scenery and music. The story is both tragic and romantic but the character of Meryl Streep's just a tad OTT when it came to "possessing" things

Certainly made me feel like I've led a very dull life in comparison. Meryl has more luck taming lions than men.

Still one of the great classics. Redford is at his best and shows in this film why he was a "heart throb" for women from nine to 90. Just the perfect "Mr Nice Guy". Meryl Streep has the slight German accent which sounds so true. You could truly believe she was from Austria. The whole film is bathed in beautiful, inspirational scenes of the African landscape, and carried along by equally inspirational music. You can watch this film again and again and enjoy it every time. I'll probably hire it out again in 12 months' time!

This is a thinking person's film. Unlike so much of the rubbish produced by Hollywood for purile minds, this film has intelligence stamped all over it. Put it on your list if your prefence is for material designed to exercise the mind.
