Saili, an unassuming villager & taro farmer, lives happily with his beautiful wife Vaaiga and her teenage daughter Litia. Their existence, whilst happy and peaceful; is unconventional. Vaiga has been banished from her ancestral village for many years. Saili faces serious threats to his plantation as well as his family & has been denied his fathers chiefly title. Life is complicated further by Litia's blossoming beauty that is getting the attention of the young men in the village. Matters ultimately come to a head, requiring Saili to speak up, speak out & defend all that he holds precious.

The pace of this movie is slow and in many ways this fits with the laid back nature of island life. If you are looking for a mile-a-minute, dramatic film, then this is not the film for you. But if you are happy to watch a film that depicts culture and some of the subtle layers of the human experience, then give this a watch. The lead character is quietly spoken and in many ways rejected, or at the very least mocked, by his village because of his small stature and physicality. He is married to a good woman who was banished from her traditional village because she'd become pregnant out of wedlock & refused to give up her child. Saili married her despite this and they live a harmonious life, for the most part. Because Saili is ashamed to be seen by people, he stays out of sight as much as possible. However, when he is involved in an incident & later suffers a loss, he is finally compelled to step forward to claim what is his, and in doing so, finally earns the respect of others. It is Saili's personal journey that the film follows and if you are willing to step slowly along side him, you will enjoy this film in some way.

Not bad but thought there would be more of Saili's story as an orator. I was expecting more and then it finished.

The story is not even interesting too many swearing and not enough storyline an emotions BORING!!!
