Composed in the last few weeks of Mozart’s life, when he was at his most depressed, the score begins with the first eight notes of the Lacrimosa and then stops. The Requiem represents the link between the gloomy legends about the composition of the Opera and the premature death of the talented composer from Salzburg. The concert took place in the ruins of the old library in Sarajevo destroyed by the Serbs, in June 1994, during the war. The concert was put together by Francesco Stochino-Weiss, was supported by U.N.H.C.R. and produced by Opera Italiana.
