When free-spirited petty crook Randle P. McMurphy (Jack Nicholson) arrives at the state mental hospital, his contagious sense of disorder jolts the routine. He's on one side of a brewing war, soft-spoken, coolly monstrous Nurse Ratched (Louise Fletcher) on the other. At stake is the fate of every patient on the ward.
Seen here in a revitalized digital transfer from refurbished elements, this electrifying adaptation of Ken Kesey's acclaimed bestseller swept all five major 1975 Academy Awards: Best Picture (produced by Saul Zaentz and Michael Douglas), Actor (Nicholson), Actress (Fletcher), Director (Milos Forman) and Adapted Screenplay (Lawrence Hauben and Bo Goldman). Raucous, searing and with a superb cast that includes Brad Dourif, Danny DeVito and Christopher Lloyd in his film debut, it soars.

No wonder this movie won 4 academy awards. Just awesome performances from Nicholson, DeVito as Martini and Louise Fletcher as Nurse Ratched . The tension between Fletcher and Nicholson just builds and builds and finally erupted in the strangulation scene and I felt as much release as he did. Classic film and probably Nicholsons best performance.

WOW! I'm really starting to wish I had grown up in the 70's. The quality of movies back then is 100 time better than the stuff Hollywood pumps out these days. Nearly all my favourite films are from the '70s (was born in the 80's). This is another one I'd always been meaning to see and I'm sorry it took me this long. This film is captivating from beginning to end with amazing performances by all involved. I also did not recognise Danny Devito as he is so young!! They really DONT make movies like this anymore.
