Not as chick-flicky-predictable as it looks. My hubby groaned when he saw the cover, but we both really enjoyed this one. Surprisingly good.

I jumped off the couch in that scene at the end. What a shock it gave me! Got a little distracted by the slipping accent but was more infuriated by the 'girl loves the tosser and deserves better' plight during most of the tale. I actually felt really sad after the film ended.

Horrendous waste of time.....don't do it! Anne Hathaway was quite good considering the beyond boring script and the very limited ability of her co-star Jim Sturgess. It had so much potential yet got lost in the triviality of a going nowhere relationship.

I liked the film overall, the characters were believable, and the supporting cast were excellent. The cinematography was superb and the use of light was wonderful. I found Anne H's variable accent very distracting, however. Most of the time she just mumbles in what passes for a generic British accent, but occasionally she drops into broad ee-by-gum Yorkshire for the odd word, for no particular reason that I could fathom. If she's meant to be a northern lass, wouldn't she have a northern accent throughout? Why not just have a British actress for the role? That aside, the music was also very good, complementing but not overwhelming the action. I'd like to read the book now.

I was pleasantly surprised by this film. I thought this was going to be another chick flick with a guy flirting with a girl but I found it was an amazing love story that spans 2 decades and gives a glimpse of what true love could really be.Anne H. was great for this because she is a timeless beauty that played her role through the years wonderfully, and Jim S. did a great job evolving with his character through immaturity to understanding. The European setting was beautiful and added to the scenes from the city to country side building the romance of it all.

What a lovely movie. I've never been much of a fan of Anne Hathaway but loved her in this. Never heard of Jim Sturgess before but I'll be looking out for him in future - what a hottie!!

I really loved this movie. I have read and loved the book and had not heard good things about the movie, but I think they did a great job capturing the story. I really, really recommend it.

A girl who looks like Anne Hathaway wastes 20 years of her life revisiting romantic possibilities with a Matthew Newton calibre plonker. How sad is that?

Movie was very romantic but left me so sad at the end. You will probably need to read the book as well if you would like to get some more info regarding storyline as i noticed that a few things were missing as per usual book to movie translation.

Don't watch if you like happy movies, that give you a break from reality. This movie highlights the misery that we cause ourselves and others, with the bad choices that we make, and the tragic things that happen in life, which we can't control. Too much reality!

A gentle love story without the "I belong to you - you nbelong tom me" senario. Just a loving relation ship without strings but a lot of feeling.

Lovely easy movie to watch, the way it skipped through the years was a great way to fast track the story plus being based in Paris and London made it particularly beautiful to watch.

Absolutely loved this movie I read the book first so was wondering what the movie was going to be like. I related to this movie so much and it gives meaning to the saying Life is too short. This movie will be in my collection with all my other favourites.

After reading the reviews here, I went into this movie with very mixed feelings. As it turned out, I thought it turned out a lot better then I'd imagined. Having said that, I felt that Anne Hathaway's character (Emma) was belittling herself by wasting all her "good years" going after Dexter, who was a basically a nasty bit of work & didn't deserve Emma's love. The ending was a bit of a surprise I have to say, not as I expected it to be. All up, not bad but certainly wouldn't tell anyone they "must see it". The rating is mainly for Anne Hathaway, I love her in everything she's done.

Oh wow, that was..... Boring. The accent, the floppy hair, the freaky ginger facial fuzz (which did not look real). The last 5-10 minutes were vaguely interesting and slightly emotional. Goodness gracious I hope the book is better than this. Thank goodness for Rafe Spall.

Loved it - definitely a "chick flick," but I didn't mind watching this one with my special lady friend. It definitely has tear-jerker potential. The lead guy is so detestable in the first half! But he definitely learned some lessons along the way. The quality of the put-on accent(s) didn't bother me. Maybe if you're from the UK it would be more irritating (?). Highly recommended for couples.

If you are into movies with a selfish, destructive, alcoholic, drug addicted, womanising male lead and a starry eyed female twerp who idolises this guy for 20 years before they FINALLY get together, then this one is for you. Just goes to show, if you can get a woman to laugh then nothing else matters. And woman wonder why guys behave badly! Partner thought this movie was bit slow. I didn't mind the pace of the movie just the ugly two main characters.

I was expecting this really wonderful love story, only to be let down by the finish, just when they were finally all happy. I hate movies that end like that. If you like a really a good cry at the end, then this is the movie for you. The movie was quite good until that. I like a happy ending. Too much sadness in the world to be depressed by bad movie endings. It was well acted except for Anne Hathaway's really bad english accent. The male lead was fantastic.

Yep - Anne Hathaway's English accent was somewhat varied. Probably a good movie for people who like sentimental but not schmaltzy movies. Not a chic lit cliche so don't expect the usual type of ending. However, I did get a bit bored well before the end - which is perhaps why the end confused me - don't want to ruin the movie by telling people why it confused me, but maybe it was just the fact that I'd lost interest by then. I can understand why some people love this movie, but it just wasn't for me.

If you can get over Anne Hathaway's atrocious and varied English accents (Henry Higgins would have trouble picking her origins) it might be worth a look.

Quite an accomplishment capturing the complexity, joy and pain of life journeys in one day a year over 20 years from end of uni to parenthood. So much happens in life and in this movie. It manages to make you care about the two characters, their lives and their relationship. Just a pity that there must be such a shortage of British actresses that they had to bring in two Americans who sound nothing like any version of British.

I watched One Day because friends had recommended the book. I thought it sounded like cheesy chick-lit so I conceded to watch the film instead. Guess what? I shouldn't have been such a snob. One Day is a pretty good film. The characters develop; the script is believable; the plot is surprisingly involving; the actors' performances are convincing. My expectations were low but I was most impressed.

If ANN E thinks that they "live happy ever after" then she must have seen a different movie to the one I saw!! Not a bad Romantic Drama, it justs takes a little while to get interesting. I was ready to switch it off after 30 minutes, but I perservered and it ended up being an interesting story.

I'm a little disappointed, I was expecting a little more to the storyline! ! ! ! A young couple meet at college to become 'best friends' the story is over the next twenty years with her loving him from a distance while he blunders through life with women, success, alchol, drugs, failure, marrage & subsequent divorce. Just when she finds success and happiness, Dexter turns up and declares his love and they finally get married . . . . 'happy ever after'. . . . .
