Movie started out a bit slow and stale but it got there eventually towards the end and I do like that it wasn't quite what you expected story in the end.

Irish accents are so hard to understand in movies, they really need subtitles. Overall a pretty bland movie. Not recommended. Hubby said cinematography was quite good (I think he means the shots of the leading lady coming out of the water)

Apart from an interesting cast, I thought this film offered little by way of plot. Would not recommend.

Where else can one catch a beautiful mermaid in ones net than in an Irish fishing village. The film is full of mysteries and depicts the cold climate which makes the locals Irish.

It is really an interesting movie. If you dont mind slow movie - its very enjoyable, beautiful story. **please dont read Ann E review below until you have watched the movie if you dont want the twist at the end spoiled.** I read the review before watching it and it sure did spoil me from getting into the magical side of the movie if i hadnt read the review. Put subtitles on from the very beginning - it will make it easier to understand.

A very unusual story - a blend of mystery, fairy tale and harsh reality. Beautifully crafted and filmed. If you don't follow their diction, turn subtitles on. I loved it!

this is brilliant! It is an unusual story line, but it is wonderful to see an Irish depiction of a township and the plight of the struggle of the individuals within it :D I felt a heart felt connection to this. Well worth the viewing, for those that like to think.

I really enjoyed this movie more than I thought I was going to! It is a modern 'fairy tale' where the mystical girl from the sea turns out to be a Rumanian drug mule! ! ! 'Once Upon A Time' . . young Irish fisherman finds a beautiful women with no memory in his fishing net, he takes her home and the obvious happens, they fall in love, the mans very ill young Daughter believes 'Ondine' has magical powers to grant wishes especially when some good luck comes their way. The movie ends as all fairy tales do with the couple getting married but only after all their lives are threatend by the drug dealers turning up looking for their drugs and 'Ondine' is threatened with deportation. . . . they all live happily ever after. The hardest part of the movie is understanding the broad Irish brouge.

Although this is very bleak and dark - I loved it. A very different story. It was a bit of a strain for eyes and ears (scenes were very dark and Colin Farrell (mmh mmh!) had a very strong accent, but regardless a really good movie.

once you settle into the swing of the Irish lilt, this movie is at times humorous, enchanting, mysterious and dark. Enjoy the story of Selkes from the myths of the land and you will be drawn into the magic of belief. Surprisingly entertaining.
