Based on a true story of the unsung heroes. 1944 The Pacific. Over 516 days, 47 Japanese soldiers outwitted 45,000 US Troops…A remarkable true story. The battle of Saipan, 1944. A year before the end of the war in the Pacific, the last remaining Japanese soldiers were prepared to fight the Americans to the very end. One soldier, Captain Oba, instilled in his men, honor, bravery and above all else, hope. He was nicknamed The Fox by the US Troops as he continued to undermine and outsmart them at every turn, but at a cost. With only 47 surviving men, unaware Japan had conceded defeat, the still fought on…this is the remarkable story of the unsung heroes who never gave up fighting for their country. The island will always be remembered as Suicide Island by the Japanese…Oba tells the story from both Japanese and US perspectives, shedding light on the Samurai creed of death before dishonor. Based on the novel by Don Jones who fought in this very battle
