Hugh Grant and Julia Roberts are both winners. Typical understated British humour, light hearted and romantic
A very sweet feel-good movie. The match between book seller and movie star is
unlikely, but it's cute.
It's a sweet no brainer but the acting is good, something to watch when you don't really want to watch anything to concentrate on. Didn't mind it at all.
Easy to watch, a "feel good" movie with good cast and good story.
A shy englishman and owner of a bookshop in Nottinghill meets a famous American actor. He does not know her as such but is smitten with her as she is with him. There is a protracted tooing sand frowing until she is persuaded to make her life with him and his happy family and friends. Very funny and very English!!
Found this very slow. We lost interest.
for some strange reason I always find Hugh grant enjoyable. Good film
Possibly the best romantic comedy I've seen, certainly in recent years. Hugh Grant and Julia Roberts play their roles to perfection. Obviously the plot itself is impossible...or is it? Stranger things have happened. In any event, it warms the heart while the humour never misses a beat.
It is not everyday that a bookshop owner manages to pour orange juice down the front of a customer, especially this one who happens to be a famous actress and has just bought an expensive book in his shop. But all is forgiven when he invites her to change her top in his terrace-house opposite. Later she invites him to The Ritz but he gets caught up in a queue of journalists waiting to interview her. To get to her he passes through the minders as correspondent for 'Horse and Hound', and they arrange to meet at a friend's house that night who is giving a dinner party. Some of the early scenes are a bit drawn out and should have been smartened up, but don't switch off because, as soon as the dinner party gets underway, the movie gathers pace and ends up being good entertainment.
It was a very enjoyable movie, as always Hugh Grant was superb, the english actors were very funny. I find Julia Roberts tends to over-act but otherwise a really funny, nice romatic feel good movie.
Fun movie, reliably feel-good.
Totally unbelievable, ridiculously fluffy. Hugh is Hugh-Julia is surprisingly effective. Rhys Ifans hilarious. Your wife, mother,mother-in-law will love it and, if in the right frame of mind, their men might too!
Strange really - I'm not particularly fond of Hugh Grant or Julia Roberts but I really loved this movie.
I couldn't make myself watch beyond 20 minutes and I can think without effort of 5 different actresses and actors who, by reading the phone book, would be more entertaining and appealing. Fergeddit.
Bad story. Julia Roberts and Hugh Grant have no chemistry at all. Don't waste your time.
One of the best romantic Comedies around!
I liked it despite my initial scepticism. A bit of an irrististable tear-jerker in the end. Glad I persisted.
