The movie I got was neither the FW Murnau version (1922) nor the Carl Theodore Dreyer version (1932), but the Werner Herzog version (1979). It had a lot of feeling, and wasn't the stereotypical vampire movie (Twilight fans stay away), but nowhere as good at the original. It was similar to Aguirre in that it was quite art-housey there were plenty of shots of scenery, so if you liked that you'll probably like this.

The disc contains 2 movies... Nosferatu: In terms of technical achievement, imagery and not re-defining but DEFINING the vampire genre, there is no better film. This version feels as if it has been re-mastered and the picture is very clear though the soundtrack feels like it is from the 80s. Nevertheless, it is utterly captivating. 4.5 stars. Vampyr: From everything I have read, there are several versions of this film out there, the definitive version being 83 mins long. This version only went for 62 mins and I got a little lost at times as the picture isnt very clear in parts and the subtitles seem to be randomly not translate certain bits of dialogue. Even so, there are some terrific set pieces and some truly haunting images. 3 stars.
