Imagine being a hunter leading highly trained bloodhounds in pursuit of a killer...and the trail leads directly to you! Starring Academy-Award winners Kevin Costner and Gene Hackman, No Way Out is "a mesmerising look at Washington power" (The Hollywood Reporter). Capturing a well-deserved four stars from critic Roger Ebert, this "taut (and) stylish" (Newsweek) thriller is fast-paced and powerful - "a perfect nailbiter" (Variety)! In a fit of rage, Secretary of Defence David Brice (Hackman) murders his mistress. To keep a lid on the scandal, Brice's loyal aide (Will Patton), creates the perfect cover-up: he "invents" a more enticing killer - a Russian spy - and then enlists naval commander Tom Farrell (Costner) to find him. But as a chilling twist of fate would have it, Farrell also has a strong connection to the victim...and now all the clues he's been hired to uncover are leading straight to him! In a desperate race against time, Farrell's search for the killer is not only a matter of national security, but also a matter of saving his own hide.

This is a great movie. Has Gene Hackman ever made a bad movie? Not a fan of Keven Costner but he was great in this. Recommended

This was a reasonable movie as spy thriller type, but the acting was wooden to say the least. I would expect kostner and hackman would not admit to this being one of their best . Yes the story line and constant twists in the the tale helped the movie . The cinematography was definitely dated and not a patch on the modern suspence thriller , still it was an enetertaining movie , and will be enjoyed by those who like this particular genre.

I really like this movie. It's the film that made a star out of Kevin Costner. He's a Navy hero who gets seconded to work at the Pentagon, where for years rumours have circulated of a mole for the Russians working there. There's a murder, he didn't do it, but he's involved, as is the Secretary of State (an excellent Gene Hackman). The plot gets cracking from this point on and so does the suspense and action. There's some great supporting acting from Will Patton and Sean Young and a great surprise ending. Well worth watching.

For all its plot faults, this is a rattling good film. This is my third viewing and I found it just as exciting as the first, even knowing the surprise ending. Great acting and filming by all concerned.

Interesting, good storyline, and a good reminder of how things were in the past - no mobiles, 80s hair styles etc. Nice to see real stockings too.
