Definately a chic flick - bit slow and my hubby got bored. Richard Gere looked hot though as usual.

Terrible film. Would have to one of Richard Gere's worst films!

Midday melodrama at its best (or worst). Pretty average, but expected fare from Gere and Lane. A lot of cringeworthy moments, but it will probably please its target audience.

The ultimate 40-50yo female "wet dream" movie. It had everything they could ask for and thus was about as close to real life as Mary Poppins. I hope Gere was paid lots to go along for the ride. The only humane thing the director did was not to give a happy ending, a rare touch of reality. This one is definitely a story for the chicks and their dreams. Guys, just grit your teeth and go along for the ride like Gere.

Dianne Lane is outstanding in this movie, very believable. Her portrayal of a woman suffering the loss of her lover was gut wrenchingly real. Much better than the average chick flick. Reminded me of the saying, "better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all". No bad language or distasteful sex scenes either. Enjoyable feel good movie.

A simple movie - I'm sure the book would be better. Loved the kookie old house and the final scene is brilliant. Certainly a watchable movie.

Not sure if it's everyone's cup of tea because it's aimed at an older audience (say 35 and up). It might seem like a chick flick but it's more of a romance with some resonances for people who have been in longer term relationships and / or divorce. Not sure I really bought into all the scenarios because I didn't feel they sold them very well or deeply. Good scenery and atmosphere.

Very depressing, and there didn't seem to be much of a zing between Richard Gere and Diane Lane. Pretty much a pointless, lightweight movie. Also, it has a strange soundtrack, lots of blaring American country music which only occasionally seemed appropriate.

What was Richard Gere thinking? And Diane Lane? This is an appaling tear-jerking romance that fails on every level. Gere looks disinterested. Lane fares better. The guesthouse location was superb. One star for the guesthouse. PS. My wife quite enjoyed it...so go figure.

Read the book.Much better! The story line was a little bit different to the book. I felt the acting was good, they did the best they could with a let down of a script. A little disappointing for Nicholas Sparks fans, but still a soppy, girly, tissue movie. All in all, not bad, but could've been better. You decide...
