Night at the Museum (2006)
Mild violence, mild coarse language
Good-hearted dreamer, Larry Daley (Ben Stiller), despite being perpetually down on his luck, thinks he’s destined for something big. But even he could never have imagined how “big” when he accepts what appears to be a menial job at a museum of natural history.
During Larry’s watch extraordinary things begin to occur: Mayans, Roman gladiators and cowboys emerge from their diorama to wage epic battles. In his quest for fire, a Neanderthal burns down his own display; Attila the Hun pillages his neighbouring exhibits and a T-Rex reminds everyone why he’s history’s fiercest predator. Amidst the chaos, the only person Larry can turn to for advice is a wax figure of President Teddy Roosevelt (Robin Williams) who helps our hero harness the bedlam, stop a nefarious plot and save the museum.

This is a joy from start to finish. Hard to believe this is American - there's no heavy moralistic message, no soppy love story just a rocking great storyline of museum pieces coming to life with wonderful results. My daughter and I absolutely loved it.

What a great family, fun movie to watch. A little boy too often disappointed by a father who sees himself as an entrepeneur. Ben Stiller is great as the father who discovers his museum is not what it seems.
Keep an eye on those older security guards, they'll give you a shock.

I had 2 preconceptions about this movie;
1. Ben stiller would be as annoying as he usually is
2. It would be too scary for the kids
Both were wrong.
Ben stiller plays a similar character to his hero Alex the Lion in Madagascar - I normally find his overacting intolerable but in this movie it suited the special effects and worked well.
It wasnt scary at all, but rather a fun exciting movie for the whole family.

Some of the best special effects ever! A most enjoyable romp, although Ben Stiller is no danger of getting an Oscar for his acting, and poor old Robin Williams is becoming almost a caricature of himself. However, the real stars are the special effects people whose animations are seamless.

Ben Stiller plays the straight guy again as his night watchman character deals with a Museum full of living exhibits. A good family movie, unbelievable story line (but who cares) and stacked with special effects. Will keep everyone entertained as long as you watch in the right mood (Dick Van Dyke as a bad guy !!- who'd have thought).

Ben Stiller does the dude we love despite his foibles better than anyone. In Night at the Museum, we're taken on a great ride where all it takes is guts and faith to show that with a little chutzpah and self-belief, History comes to life. This is a terrific feel good movie; superbly shot and cast - New York in Winter? Beautiful tracks through the snow... While nothing is ever as it seems until you have a closer look, the same can be said for characters like Larry. Watch it; it'll warm your heart.
