Great stuff for Neil Young fans, of which I am one. Sound and video is spot on with good backup artists including Emmylou Harris. I totally recommend the second half for the classic songs . Go Neil!
I'm a Neil Young tragic. Great stuff....5 stars!!
Very sedate performance but oh.. the magnificent music, musicianship and vocals - proved to be a superb concert
The first half featuring unfamiliar songs (to this viewer) is an OK concert without being anything special. But once the movie moves into "greatest hits" mode, like "Heart of Gold" it is brilliant and makes for a memorable concert film. Three stars for the first part, five for the second. And for Elvis fans, the "Extra" comprising one song left out of the movie is a must.
That voice... what more can I say? That voice...
Brilliant. If you get Neil Young then have a look at this one. Great stage, great musos, great sound, great songs.
A high quality DVD for a DVD of a live performance. Excellent photography and lighting adds to a heartfelt performance
A well filmed concert, ostensibly for the "Prairie wind" album, however, there are some old favorites included.
The filming is tight on Neil most of the time, and the audience is not viewed at all, however the sound quality is excellent.
The old boy's still got it, I prefer Neil Young with his garage band Crazy Horse but this more country rock concert got me right in.The latter half is song's from his Harvest Moon album. If you like Neil Young you will enjoy this DVD.
As a Neil Young fan, I was expecting to really like this one. However, the sad fact is that most of his best material was written in the 70s and the Prairie Wind songs are pretty ordinary to say the least. The lyrics aren't too bad but the music is totally forgettable.
I almost turned this DVD off half way, but then things improved when Neil delved into his old catalogue and delivered some fine renditions of songs like Old Man, Harvest Moon etc. And at the very last, the pearl in the oyster - a sublime solo performance of the Old Laughing Lady, delivered to the empty auditorium. I'd never heard that song before but it totally blew me away. Checked it out on the internet later and learned it was written for his first solo album in 1969. Sadly, he just doesn't write songs that good anymore.
An excellent "concert" movie. Very well put together. Sound is great.
Yes I am a Neil Young Fan
way back from the 60's & 70's
If you are in the right age group you will his hits and new ones. (I have the purchased one.)
Really for Neil Young fans only, and for this fan his lyric-writing has fallen away dramatically. Well produced and shot.
