Paul Maddens, (Martin Freeman from The Office) is a primary school teacher in a small town with big aspirations. His dream is to stage the best-reviewed Nativity play in town, however this means competing against the posh rival school down the road. Mr. Maddens decides to raise the stakes by idly boasting that his ex-girlfriend Jennifer (Ashley Jensen from Extras), a Hollywood producer, is coming to see the show with the hope of turning it into a film. But the only trouble is – she isn’t coming at all, in fact they haven’t spoken in years. With eccentric assistant Mr Poppy fuelling his ‘little white lie’, Mr. Maddens suddenly finds himself a local celebrity and at the centre of quarrelling parents and over-excited children desperate in their bid for fame and fortune.

Absolutely brilliant. Typically English movie. Great laughs. Everyone needs a Mr Poppy in their life and what about little Bob, he was soooo cute. It made me 'sparkle and shine'. Loved the music.

My husband and I both loved this movie. The acting was great and the children were delightful. A feel-good family movie that will leave you smiling. We thoroughly recommend this one.

Really enjoyable family movie. painfully funny in parts to watch the calalmities occur one after the other, definitely worth a look.

A great feel good movie - childrens' Nativity play was wonderful and creative and made me feel quite emotional.
