It is a lovely observational animated movie which I enjoyed because I have lived in Japan. It is a portrayal of daily family life in Japan and requires a level of interest in human nature to fully enjoy.

The animation, pacing, and story; I found quite different from the others such as Pompoko, My friend Totoro. It reminded me a bit of a comic similar to 'Family Circus'. The film was interesting in its own way, but if you are looking to find one in the vein of 'Spirited Away' this isn't the one to choose.
