As far as light entertainment rom-coms go, this is very enjoyable. Hugh Grant & Drew Barrymore are perfectly cast, basically reprising past roles. Thought it might be corny, but I was wrong. No surprises in the script, but enjoyable entertainment.
Loved this! Very Notting Hill meets 50 first dates (oh wait, maybe that's just the actors) still a truly entertaining romantic comedy. A chick flick my husband loved - Pop, goes my heart - it reeks of 80s nostalgia and has a lot of heart. Worth a watch if you want a soppy giggle. Good-Oh!
very good I like this one
Hugh Grant was a little unbelievable in this role, Drew Barrymore was great as usual. Overall good movie but I just couldn't get into it.
Super movie, really wonderful and funny too. Great entertainment.
Funny and light - the perfect Friday night movie. Hugh Grant delivers some great lines. We really enjoyed it.
Good light movie... Hugh Grant was good as always, Drew Barrymore was perfect for this role.
Ok movie very obvious plot
A fun romantic comedy, centered around a has-been singer-Pop-music-writer attempting to make a return. His principal problem is to get a few new songs prepared for his comeback. He himself is utterly no good at writing lyrics, but by chance he finds a girl who is a natural lyricist (except when she puts her mind to it, and then she is dreadful). They have their ups and downs, and there are plenty of laughs. No solid meat in the play, but it is fun to watch and while away the time.
Pleasantly surprised - wasn't expecting much, but this movie is a fun, light hearted comedy that seems to get the romantic comedy mix right. I'm not a huge Hugh Grant fan, but he's ideal for this role and there's lots of great one liners. Drew Barrymore is great as well. This movie doesn't take itself at all seriously which is why it works!
Ahh, a nice little feelgood movie to watch on a rainy day. Lighthearted and fun, especially if you remember the 80's!
Ok movie - not the best. Wouldn't really bother watching it.
light and fluffy.....Hugh Grant's character was quite likeable and he had nice chemistry with Drew Barrymore. Not an earth shattering movie, but pleasant enough.
An easy to watch love story with some quirky sendups of 80s pop music. Hugh Grant is not much of a singer but seems to pull off playing a washed up singer pretty well. Drew Barrymore does well again in a role of cute lady friend.
Very typical Hugh Grant film, lots of laugh's and one liners. Drew is very good. Easy to watch movie, very light, can be a bit slow at times.
This is probably only worthy of a three stars - a light, easy 'rom-com', that I found pretty much just passable to watch as a couple... however, a few days later I still had the silly retro song from the opening credits in my head! A very nice description of the difference and complementarity of the melody vs the lyrics. Overall a tick above average I think.
Great feel good romantic comedy.
Could be in a top 20 all time movies .... for quality of script should be in top 10.
Excellent acting by all and sundry .... fantastic script delivered really well by Hugh Grant and Drew B plays the perfect drop for lots of those lines.
Very light hearted comedy that can be watched by all.
I didn't love it. It was funny in parts but not hilarious.
Cute Movie, total chick flick. I enjoyed it
Loved it! It reminded me of my teenage years. Laughed and sang along.
Ok movie-nothing really happened that grabbed my attention unfortuantley. I was expecting great things with Hugh Grant
This was a lovely film - very funny in places, however, chemistry between to lead actors did not cross over to audience. Enoyed watching it.
good lighthearted comedy, not big fan of wither actor but really enjoyed
Love this movie!! Another entertaining Hugh Grant movie.
Pair perfectly with Drew Barrymore. The songs are so catchy you be humming it for some time after the movie!
Not the best Hugh Grant movie i have seen, but ok for a lazy sunday afternoon.
Well a bit sad really,,,, but watched it all to see if there was actually a point - Just ok - this one!
I loved this movie and thought Hugh was really good. The music was very catchy.
I loved this film. Drew Barrymore was outstanding in the role of plant waterer and became lyrics writer was great. Seeing Hugh sing was funny Did he actually sing in it. Anyway loved it
One of the better films I've seen in a while, even if the girl I saw this with, came out of the closet on me a few weeks later.
Hugh Grant > you.
when i watched this movie "PoP went my heart
I LOVE THIS MOVIE THE BEST EVER!!!! Very 80tys
i am only 11 and so far we have had it two days and i have seen it seven times.
I have got to have budhas delight
This a nice story of two people coming together to help each other get over their emotional baggage. Hugh Grant is OK, Drew Barrymore is wonderful and the suprise inclusion of Brad Garrett is amazing.
Better than what I thought it would be. Drew Barrymore and her character really make the movie so a good story.
This surprised me, wasn't expecting much, but itwas a good simple, and reasonably funny comedy. Simple story but it works. Hugh Grant puts the toss back into tosser.
Wow ... I absolutely loved this movie. It was clean fun with a flashback you could see yourself in. Drew Barrymore and Hugh Grant are great on screen together, they just seem to mesh well. Great, fantastic, awesome !
If you are a fan of Drew Barrymore or Hugh Grant then watch this.
It gives you an insight into how the lyrics of a song are put together and music composed to it. I think Drew Barrymore has teamed up with all the eligible male comedians by now. I enjoyed her movie with her and Adam Sandler (50 Dates).
Saved only by having Hugh Grant and Drew Barrymore in it. Very poor otherwise.
When you've seen a few pop-corn chickflix and mainstream mass-produced romance movies, you don't expect too much so I found this surprisingly good!
Didn't like Drew Barrymore (except when she was in ET) and Hugh Grant that much until I saw this. Great chemistry between them. If you're a child of the 80's then you'll have a good laugh at the cheesy 80's film clip and recognise some of the inspiration for cheesy 80's music which Hugh Grant sings!
My 12 year old daughter also enjoyed it and the music. You can see that they're obviously making fun of Britney Spears pop culture with the Cora character and parts of it are predictable but hey, it's fun and tasty bubblegum for the brain and ears!
Those looking for academy award winning material can look elsewhere. Otherwise, if you're looking for light-hearted comedy romance, this is delightful!
Lots of fun - a feelgood movie. The 80s single is laugh-out-loud good ;)
Loved this movie, funny and quirky
Absolutley, thoroughly enjoyable. If you love a great romantic movie then this is the one.
I liked it, very simple, funny in places.
Hugh & Drew are great as always!
Surprisingly funny, good easy watching
Good rom com; about 20 minutes too long.
Drew Barrymore was great, but lacked sizzle back from Hugh Grant. Ok.
What a wonderful movie, both Hugh and Drew make a very real couple.
Music of the 80's was great, at least unlike today's I do not even know what they are saying, (perhaps its better if I don't).
A good film for the family and one I would watch again.
A bit lightweight but just an easy to watch film. Take it or leave it.
Loved it. If you are an 80s music fan - this is a film you should see. First 5 mins are so hilarious and took me back to my teenage years.
Light and easy to watch and Hugh Grant (minus floppy hair) doing what he does so well. Some really good laughs with a good natured poke at the current style of pop divas! And the music's not too bad to listen to either! eitherither
Enjoyable rom com, quite silly but entertaining!
I was prepared to sit through a chick flick after the girls of the house sat through "Shoot 'em up" (and loved it) but even the chicks hated this one. So bad. Cheesy, woeful and just plain awful. Hugh Grant has played the same character in every movie with that creased forehead and perpetually worried expression and Drew barrymore is just a sap. The music and singing are dreadful. Avoid!
Although this is a light hearted predictable romantic comedy, much along the same lines as Two weeks Notice (Hugh Grant), and 50 First Dates, (Drew Barrymore) it’s still a good watch. Grant (an aging washed up singer) & Barrymore (an offbeat younger woman with a flair for words) are delightful together and given the difference in their ages, 47 to her 33, it worked. An entertaining movie.
Awful. The worst film I've seen these two in. I felt sorry for them!!
Enjoyed this movie, nice light enterainment & cute love story
Great chicks flick. Fairly predictable but funny & happy
What an appalling waste of time. Why is it that US films with Hugh Grant are so bad? Is it that they don't get British humor or get timing right?
This is a great way to reminise about 80;s pop music. Hugh Grant as Alex Fletcher the Has Been pop star is brilliant. Drew Barrymore as Sophie Fisher does a great job as Alex's lyricist. A nice night in.
Again Hugh Grant as the main character is greatly appealing & amusing - loved the '80s dancing. He carries the usual preposterous romantic storyline with panache and is given great support from Drew Barrymore. Better than expected.
thankfully i didn't pay any money to see this film
Lighthearted and enjoyable - worth a look.
Lovely movie, I love Drew Barrymore and Hugh Grant, they are great actors
Bizarre! hard to take Hugh Grant seriously in this movie....is he for real! Nice movie cos Drew Barrymore is awesome but Hugh was completely unbelieveable.
No one in the family could finish this movie.
Amiable if lightweight comedy. Drew Barrymore radiates real charm. Hugh Grant's timing is erratic but he takes pleasure in presenting himself as over the hill.
This is a great comedy for anyone you hit their teens in the "80's". Loved Hugh's dancing in this, well worth the laugh.
Romantic movie, with a few laughs. Hugh Grant / Drew barrymore fans will love it. A tale of friendship and even though you maybe a has been you can still rise above that sterio type and become great again, if you follow your heart and listen to the voices within you.
Not too bad as far as rom coms go. Sweet and funny, but not much more than that. A good movie for a rainy day.
great movie i could watch it over and over and not get sick of it
I loved this dvd it is soooo 80's and very very funny, totally enjoyed Hugh grant and even enjoyed Drew Barrrymore , they made a great team, top notch, my kids even loved it and they are of the 90's.
The first time I watched the trailer, it looks very interesting. But wait until you watch the entire movie you will find that the story is a very, very, very slow movie. I lost interest at the middle of the movie but still watched all the way till the end. Quite disappointed with Drew Barrymore and Hugh Grant.
Music and Lyrics was a refreshing change to the usual boy meets girl chick flicks with a witty, well delivered script and interesting characters. I really enjoyed the trip back to the eighties which presented a good laugh and just a little embarrassment (god it was a daggy decade!).
Not much of a Hugh Grant fan, but thoroughly enjoyed this movie. Drew Barrymore was gorgeous. Such a funny movie.
Very enjoyable movie. Highly recommend.
This was a Christmas present, thankyou Quickflix. I loved this movie, Hugh Grant never disappoints me. The story line was great.
I really enjoyed this movie, and just loved the music, and still singing that main song, Pop goes.
Loved it, hugh and drew had great chemistry and he can sing too. Who knew?
Lots of chemistry between Hugh Grant and Drew Barrymore. A sweet and funny film with a bit of schlock thrown in. Entire family enjoyed it.
Predictable chick flick, but very enjoyable.
Alot of singing, a bit cheesy...But still worth watching had me laughing.
Not bad. Typical Hugh/Drew ho hum - a bit hollow, but easy watching no brainer material.
A hopeless love story that failed to touch me.
Loved this one! Good storyline and loved the music. A feel good story and so nicely done. Hugh Grant and Drew Barrymore were fantastic and Hugh Grant does his own singing in this - he's really quite good!
Good light-hearted entertainment with good acting by Hugh Grant and Drew Barrimore. Quite a "sweet" sort of movie.
Really enjoyable 'stay at home' movie...nice storyline and humerous
Wonderful movie.Very entertaining.
Predictable chick flick. Grant really is getting too old for these types of roles. Barrymore is awkward but likeable.
Absolutely dreadful. Bad acting, bad dialogue, bad story. There was no build up - no sexual tension between the main characters and totally boring cliche ending.
a great little feel good movie that had the charm of Drew Barrymore and the best of Hugh Grant - loved it, especially the unveiling of Grant's singing!
Good one for the end of the week when you just want to relax and have a laugh, feel good hollywood ending.
I thought it was very enjoyable.Loved the interaction between the 2 stars.Recommended.
I like almost anything with Drew in it. She was really good in this, i enjoyed it.
Re movie "Music & Lyrics" I really enjoyed this movie it was light and easy to watch & listen to. The music was very catchy and I felt it was a very bright happy story. It was a bit long. Apart from that it was a good movie that's why I rated it at four stars.
fantastic movie, just loved it!!
It was sweet and a little corny... Definitely a date DVD. Not one that you'll remember in 2 weeks time, but ok to distract you and make you smile for an hour and a half. Drew Barrymore's dresses are cute
if you like hugh or drew movies you will like this it's your usual boy meets girl gets girl loses girl win girl back movie they both do so well. Very good little movie with great hip action from hugh grant
Not a memorable movie, but certainly watchable if you like Hugh Grant & Drew Barrymore. Story line a bit lacking.
Abit of good fun, they both are good to watch.I did not know hugh grant could sing.
I loved this movie, it was gorgeous and charming, a real girly girly movie. Hugh and Drew a great combination.
Great movie, good storyline.
Lighthearted movie saved by Drew Barrymore. Hugh Grant is, as usual, playing a dopey dithering Pom (I'm a Pom so I can say that).
A fairly typical love story but definately worth watching to see Hugh Grant singing and dancing.
This is a girl-movie, but if you like Hugh Grant, you will love this one. Hugh and Drew (!) are sympathetic characters, the script is quite clever and funny and the messages all moral and heart-warming. This comedy warms the "cockles' of your heart!
We just love Drew Barrymore. Fantastic actress. Hugh Grant, well, he is growing on me, so to speak. Funny and quirky. This is an enjoyable movie.
Nice movie to watch, I couldn,t see any real great chemistry between Drew and Hugh on screen but a good movie all the same, loved the daggy 80's music scene that hugh was from. Worth a watch all the same.
Fun, light comedy with Hugh Grant getting the best lines!
Excellent popcorn movie to be watched with your girlfriend or wife. Hugh has some really funny one-liners. Much better than I thought it would be.
A great comedy. Very enjoyable.Worth watching.
Fantastic feel good romatic comedy - with no sex scenes or crudity to spoil it! Hugh Grant shows he can sing and play piano - Drew Barrymore is an outstanding actress. Great movie - hard to find ones like these these days!
Great movie, hugh grant and drew barrymore excellent as always
What a wonderful feel-good movie. Hugh Grant is terrific and Drew Barrymore is her usual charming self. Just a movie to brighten your day and put a smile on your face.
Great movie, love those two actors.
It was so great to see how far Drew has come from first seeing her in ET. I loved it, a real chick flick, but really, anyone would love this.
great movie good cast good storyline well acted
Excellent movie, very funny and also sad and romantic. Loved it!!!
I hope there will be a CD!
Good fun with flashbacks of 80's pop music....Scary!!
I enjoyed the movie very much. I like both Hugh Grant and Drew Barrymore. Hugh's singing was excellent, especially when he was part of the POP group
Great stuff. Certainly a Hugh Grant classic with that charming gril from ET!
Lovely, romantic movie - Hugh as lovely as ever and Drew could play just about any role.
A sweet movie but Hugh Grant did not seem comfortable in his performance - at time I found myself expecting a laughtrack after his one-liners. Great chemsistry between the leads and worth watching just for the 80s dance moves. Nowhere near as good as The Wedding Singer though!
Hugh Grant wasexcellant in this role and my wife and I realy enjoyed this DVD
Drew Barymore and Hugh Grant are perfect together in this plot. Some very funny moments mixed with a classic romance. Took me back to the TRAGIC 80's, the hairstyles, the clothing, the music, ah the memories.
Froth & Bubble, light movie but fun. Good Chemistry between the leads which suprised a bit. Unusual role for Hugh Grant. I liked it.
Hugh Grant plays Hugh Grant in this slow starting comedy that gets there in the end.
Funny, but long drawn. Worth watching.
If you liked Notting Hill then you'll love this one - not a tear jerker but a feel-good movie. I watched it without the hubbie......... and really enjoyed it.
Light hearted, good feel movie. I believe and please correct me if I am wrong, Hugh Grant is actually singing. Not too bad.
good fun movie, with a bit of nostalgia in it, if you remember the eighties.
Good chick flick Hugh Grant funny as usual!
I really enjoyed this! Very funny, a romantic comedy with a difference.
I had no expectations about this movie, so was surprised to find how enjoyable it really was. I even found myself laughing out loud at times. The 80s music clip at the beginning was hilariously accurate and Hugh Grant looked amazingly young in it. He does his own singing in the movie and is actually quite good. Cute story, believable romance and good music. I'm still humming the main song.
I'm not a Hugh Grant fan usually. I think the chemistry between Hugh and the ever-adorable Drew Barrymore is obvious. Her innocent character is a perfect fit. Alot of fun.
I didn't like this movie at all very boaring its a shame because I like Drew Barrymore as an actress. Would not recomend it.
I don't mind the occasional "chick flick", but instead of the reaching for the tissues I was reaching for the vomit bucket. Hugh is past his use by date for this movie. Still love him though!
It was a good family movie with some good laughs
Humorous - witty/funny, light, romantic
Loved it!!!!! great movie
Had the tissue moments, the laughter and the memories of anyone whos been inlove with a pop star!
Loved the quirky nature of Drew barrymores character too!
It works because its Hugh Grant and Drew Barrymore. Good light fun romantic comedy. It was a little bit corny at times.
Enjoyed the movie even if it was only for the music. It is a typical Hugh Grant character but it did have some handkerchief moments.
Great comedy cast. Loved the 80's music video. Helps you remember what a bad decade in fashion. Some great laughs balanced with an ok storyline. Hugh's acting is great as an 80's has been pop star.
The music on this movie is actually very nice to listen too. It has quite a good story line. I think it's a good movie to watch because it's relaxing and entertaining at the same time.
Enjoyable, a feel good movie. Watched it twice as I enjoyed the music.
Light chick flick - Drew Barrymore was great.
How is it that the sum total of the deleted scenes was better than the main feature? Was is something to do with the lack-lustre script? Can 'our Hugh' only shine when he has a Richard Curtis or a Ben Elton writing for him? I guess that the glory days of Four Weddings and Notting Hill are well in the past. But he's such a likeable chappie which gave the film that extra star rating
Enjoyed it, the music is lovely and Hugh Grant can sing.
Dragged on a bit... Drew was good.
I found it a typical Hugh Grant type movie.
good for light entertainment. Surprisingly good role from Hugh Grant (not usually a fan!)
Nothing AMAZING... but it's a good romance. Now, if you have the doubt about getting or not this movie... please do it.
I watched it twice, I loved it for the music, the humour and the sheer escapism. Although the two leads were well-known, they were cast well.
A has been 80’s pop star is given an opportunity to write a song for the “it” pop girl Cora. An unlikely relationship flourishes between the characters of Hugh Grant and Drew Barrymore, who is just a natural in stringing words together. Hugh looks very haggard in this movie and an odd choice to playing along side Drew Barrymore. Still the format is tried and tested and there are a few funny lines to make it worthwhile. Only if you are huge Drew Barrymore fan.
A funny movie, you will laugh and be entertained. Just what I wanted
although a little predictable it was an enjoyable and entertaining movie.
Enjoyed this movie. A nice romantic comedy & good story.
Cute, Feel good movie. Drew and Hugh are great together.
The best of Hugh Grant...
Funny, witty, sitting at edge of seat....
Opening scene was hilarious but it went down hill from there.
Not a big Hugh Grant fan but love Drew Barrymore and the two combined beautifully here. Classic case of how the not so famous can keep the famous in check and provide normality to the personality. Good simple comedy!!
I found this film charming and lighthearted and was pleasantly surprised by Grant's singing voice. There was good chemistry between him and Barrymore. Not one of the great movies but a good movie to relax and unwind with!
Surprisingly watchable. Starts off a little shaky, but give it time and you'll find there's a likeable enough film in here. Many cynical remarks about the music industry, including cynical remarks about cynical remarkers, so there's jokes within jokes aplenty. It's light and it's sing-songy and it was entertaining. Not much else to say really.
An average film and a typical role for Hugh Grant playing an aging reborn teen idol who is trying to write a song with a looming deadline. Corny and predictable and only a few laughs make this bearable and watch it if you have nothing better to do on a rainy day.
