The best by far of the new bunch of thrillers. - Time "Sandra Bullock has never been more original or affecting" (Michael Sragow, Baltimore Sun) as Cassie Mayweather, a homicide detective confronting personal demons while following her instincts about the real killers in a Jane Doe murder case. The clues point one way - but the chain of evidence is too perfect. Police procedure melds with escalating tension in this suspense thriller directed by Barbet Schroeder (Single White Female). Ryan Gosling (The Believer) and Michael Pitt (Finding Forrester) chillingly play bored rich kids who plan and execute a perfect murder, then watch the police fall for every planted clue. They figure they've gotten away with it. What they don't figure right is Cassie Mayweather.

A fairly average movie with a really predictable plot line

Sandra Bullock stars in this slick though formulaic detective thriller. There are no surprises. All the usual ingredients are there: a cop with a dark past; friction and sexual tension between the two-person team of detectives; a cop who is perceptive on the job but can't sort out her private life; conflict between the two villains; pressure on the police chief from a high-up influential person; a climax where the cop takes on the villains by herself (why didn't she get support first); etc. Murder by numbers? More like movie by numbers.

The guy who played Justin was really spooky. Ryan Gosling was up himself as usual. The scene near the end when Bullock looked as though she was about to fall gave me the heebee geebees because I don't like heights. All up a good thriller to watch.

Sandra Bullock is always great to watch and this movie was pretty good for the most part. There were some scenes that were ridiculously out of character and implausible but it was generally worth watching.

The cast is good and the story has its moments. Certainly an accetpable alternative to poor TV filled with ad breaks! Some implausible leaps and deliberately provocative sexual actions and comments can be overlooked or accepted according to viewer taste.

Bored gifted teens plan the perfect murder but something goes a drift when a girl between them is seen as a threat to each others loyalty, otherwise a very enthrawling film with some acting to awe at from such young talents then a few lame cliches thrown in to corner the whole market.

If you're really realllyyy bored, watch it. If you're psyching up for a mad thriller, this is crap. The only thing worth watching for is Sandra Bullock.

Not one of Sandra Bullock's best but worthy of a watch. She seems to have found a niche in thriller type movies. Highly watchable.
