Didn't really live up to my expectations. I feel with some of these mainland Chinese productions that there is a little over-emphasis on fervent expressions of Chinese Nationalism, that is often melodramatic and occasionally wanders into the realms of subtle propaganda. The concept was good, some moving scenes, but could have been better.

an intersting and entertaining film with plenty of feeling and guts to it. for me though, not enough intensity in the conflict and battle, not enough gore or martial arts. this is more of a drama but i liked it nether tha less and i rate this film a 6 outta 10..

Not bad movie with interesting story-line and castings. This is closer to drama genre than action though, so beware if you're expecting lots of actions here you'd be disappointed.
