Coarse language and sexual references

Director: Roger Michell
Actors: Rachel McAdams, Harrison Ford, Diane Keaton, Patrick Wilson, Jeff Goldblum

When hard-working TV producer Becky Fuller (Rachel McAdams) is fired from a local news program, her career begins to look as bleak as her hapless love life. Stumbling into a job at Daybreak, the last-place national morning news show, Becky decides to revitalize the show by bringing on legendary TV anchor Mike Pomeroy (Harrison Ford). Unfortunately, Pomeroy refuses to cover morning show staples like celebrity gossip, weather, fashion and crafts - let alone work with his new co-host, Colleen Peck (Diane Keaton), a former beauty queen and long-time morning show personality who is more than happy covering morning "news." As Mike and Colleen clash, first behind the scenes and then on the air, Becky's blossoming love affair with fellow producer, Adam Bennett (Patrick Wilson) begins to unravel - and soon Becky is struggling to save her relationship, her reputation, her job and ultimately, the show itself.

Took me 2 goes to get into this one. Rachel McAdams is terrific and owns this movie which though classified as a rom/com is not that romantic and only sporadically funny. The big problem is Harrison Ford who seems as uncomfortable in this movie as his character is uncomfortable as a co-anchor with Diane Keaton (always good) on a crappy US network breakfast show. And the Clint Eastwood drawl just doesn't work for Ford. I'm thinking Kevin Kline could have been great in this. Watch for Ty Burrell in a small role at the beginning. Disappointing movie overall.

A good movie. I just wish Harrison Ford could smile more. He looks permanently grumpy. But he's just getting old. Not the handsome Indiana Jones star from the 80s anymore.

Er um - OK, I would first change the title to Boring Glory! Very slow and mostly uninteresting story about a TV Morning News show. I wondered why I'd never heard of it before (considering Harrison Ford was in it) - but then the fact that it was such a fizzer (IMO) explained it. Look - you might like it - just don't expect the show to grab you by the shirt collar though! Steve

I have trouble with comedy DVDs but I really enjoyed this one. Rachel McAdams was very good and Harrison Ford (the reason I ordered the DVD) was his usual best. 3 and a half stars well worth watching.

Even though Harrison Ford looks like this is a movie he wishes he didn't do the cast is excellent. Good acting, fine script, very light comedy carried by the lead Rachael McAdams. Good poke at morning TV.
