Stupid movie... Some get turned on watching a horror... ...I never get what the pleasure... only watched it because of
Amy Smart but her face was ripped apart... awful Idea!
The ending is real stupid too... Good luck if you end up choosing it for a lovely movie watching night .... :)
Slow in parts and kind of predictable ending - otherwise this movie really scared me. But I do happen to have a phobia of mirrors at night time...
Not the best horro movies but it's worth a view to pass the time on a Sunday afternoon. Some very scary moments, gore and special effects. I haven't seen Kiefer in a movie in ages and he is excellent as usual. I was a little baffled by the concept of a Security Guard keeping watch on an condemned burnt out building (unless because it's haunted) but after a while it doesn't matter and it kind of is explained at the end. There is apparently a second part to this movie (without Kiefer which is always a sign the sequel will either be a carbon copy with slight variations or a totally different concept with the same title) ... I don't think I'll watch it. I was happy with the ending to this one and I'm not in the least bit curious to see what happens next.
If you don't enjoy this somewhat I'd say you're not a true horror flick fan. I'm a die-hard horror fan and have seen some absolute rubbish. Mirrors gets the thumbs up from me.
Average Horror - Thriller. Original concept is good, but execution not so good. Fails to build any real tension (just frights from the scarey music - Boo factor, as I like to call it). Won't give the ending away, but I don't think it really worked, seemed to just not fit well. But I have seen worse
The concept of mirrors has been around for a long time and thu Prince of darkness and Poltergesit 3 toyed with the idea. Mirrors really takes advantage of the idea and its a satsfying film because of that. An ex cop gets a job guarding a burnt out Bloomingdales kind of store but strange events happen and the mirrors appear to be dangerous and have a life of their own. He tries to solve the case as himself and his family are in danger from the mirrors wrath. Brillant acting by all and a speical mention to Sutherland as hes a reliable and talented actor and this film shows he plays good guys equally as well as the usual baddies he played in the past. The direction sets up the action str8 away and has moving drama moments among the well desgned horror set ups. The deaths are creative and the mirror effects esp. with two people in one scene takes what Poltergesit 3 only brefly touched upon to the next level. The effects are brill and very gory in places. My only gripe is the very strange ending but seeing a sequel is upcoming its a forgivable flaw. Im suprised at how many bad reviews this has gotten but considering its all been done before what they used was entertaining enough. Def worth a view for horror fans.
I don't know why I bother with horror movies, they just frustrate me. I mean, why is this burnt out building even getting walked through by security guards at night? It's an OH
Better than average horror movie and certainly recommend a watch for fans of this genre. Would have preferred more of a connection between Keifer's character and his family, as although he was fighting for them it didn't feel heart-wrenching enough. Enjoyed the film except for the ending which left too many unanswered questions.
Slow to start .. mediocre at best ... if I want to talk away and play on facebook, it's not interesting in the slightest.
The old Supernatural, phsyciatric hospital with an old lady thrown in plot is alive and well. A good storyline that had us pushing back into the seat as the plot developed and a couple of nasty scenes that ticked the horror box. Paula Patton is well equipped for the story and the twisted finished capped it off nicely.
Really, truly, awful. I hear the original Japanese version is just as bad.
I thought what great acting suspense was high all the timeWOW
Was Ok until the very end. Stupid ending up in the air ending.
Little story line and poor acting meant complete movie was not watched by all.
Had no expectations as unfairly I followed the review of a metro newspaper reviewer who gave Life is Beautiful one star and the naked gun five stars. The same paper employees Andrew Bolt so ill informed opinion is endemic there. Good without being great.
My son and I did not think much of this movie, but my partner thought it was cool-lol. So yeah....abit conflicting. I was disappointede in Keither Sutherlands acting, but the story line I felt was not the best.
Ok I guess if there is NOTHING else on, but not the best BY FAR!
I amnot a big one for horrors but I actually liked it! t was a bit eerie and a little predictable but overall I thought it was pretty good!
Didn't think much of this movie at all...that's 2 hours we'll never get back...shocker!
This movie was quite good. Keifer Sutherland was an excellent good guy and the movie was scary enough that I didn't want to look in the mirror after I watched it.
Made the mistake of letting my 10
This was a better than average horror story. There is some depth to the story and the actors are good. I would recommend it.
Pretty good movie.....loved the concept and storyline but it contained too many cliches. Like, wife exiles husband, husband goes over to visit children unannounced, wife tears strips out of husband for going over to see kids without calling first.......Done to death!!!! Someone please, make a movie where the cliches are lined up against the wall and shot!!!.
I liked this movie although it was a bit strange. Just another Horror movie! Nothinb special to brag about. I think i ruined it for myself by expecting too much. But worth a look.
I thought this was very clich?? as yet another Japanese remake.
The acting is the only aspect i can kind of commend. The story was slow, boring and didn't really hold my attention. Too many pieces (excuse the pun) are left unanswered.
The special effects are amateurish overall giving the film a slight cheapness.
If you're after a horror film with lots of suspense and thrills this isn't it. The horror just doesn't work, the scares you can see coming from a mile away.
All of these Japanese remakes all contain the same two elements, girls with long dark hair and water. If you've seen one, you've seen them all.
I gave this 2/5 for having a try.
Everytime he is in the scene I kept thinking Jack Bauer.
Started off well with a few nice chills, and Keifer Sutherland doing the best he can with what he's been given, but by halfway it turns to crap. The last half is terrrrrrible, laughable and cheesy. Track down the original Korean version for a much better, more thrilling experience.
This flick has the feel of "Dejavu" all the way. Remake of a Korean movie, itself ripping off Poltergeist and Japanese Horror films (Mainly The Ring, Pulse...). This US remake is far from being original and all the ingredients have been taken from different flicks even the lines said by the actors sound sometimes like copied from other movies.
The dialogues and the acting are pretty weak for the genre making the characters not believable at all.
I also found the VFX looking very fake by the way.
Basically a very poor movie made by hollywood.
Kiefer should stick to 24 and you, to real classics.
For sure, Hollywood can make bad movies.
This was a great movie. Liked the storyline and using mirrors was a classic idea. Well worth the watch for all of you horror fans. It's about time they bought out a decent horror flick. Worth the watch.
A big surprise. this was quite good. It was a different way of telling the story. Not sure about the ending.
Excellent!!!!!!!!! The storyline was good! and the special effects were brilliant! An all round great movie! Not to be missed!
We watched the "unrated" option - possibly a mistake, because it was very graphic and gory. However, on the whole it was quite good - nothing different about the storyline, but I did like the mirror aspect of it all. A little scary in some occasional moments, but otherwise fairly tame. Wasn't bad though.
