The Matrix (1999)

Lots of martial arts, guns, specials effects. Not that interesting to me. Perhaps good for teenage boys...

Fantastic movie, best one of the series. Special effects are great and has a decent and original story line.

Confuses me a little, all this what is a dream, what is real kind of movies. I like the special effects and fight scenes.

Great Movie. Never get sick of Hugo weaving and the special effects. The next movie (reloaded) is the best of all three I reckon. Which is a plesant suprise, usually the first one is the best then they try and exploit that sucess and make sequels to cash in. This always spoils it for me and makes me think the directors were not genuine in making a great movie.. But the Matrix is in a class of its own..!!! Fantastic

This has aged remarkably well, the special effects are miles ahead of current films. And what a treasure trove of counter-culture references!

THE BEST MOVIE

Not only a stand out ground breaking film, but also incredibly engaging. Fantastic concept but what sets it apart is the way in which you are drawn in to the world they have created. Innovative and original - the film so many others have copied.

First movie of the 21st century. Awesome story, visial effects, can't be missed...

This is a great movie to watch again- especially if you haven't seen it for a few years. A young Keanu is always a nice view but Hugo Weaving is brilliant in his role as Smith.

Changed the face of Cinema forever. If you want to see history in the making, catch up with the Matrix.

One of the coolest SciFis ever with Keanu Reeves in the role he was born for. A story that puts a neat technology spin on the whole 'what's it all about?' question and which led to motivation speakers the world over doing their best impersonation of Morpheus, offering their listeners the choice between 'the red pill and the blue pill'.

Why hadn't I seen this already? I was suprised that as I got further into it how much I enjoyed it. Have to see the sequels now...

For any SciFi/Action/Adventure buff this movie is not to be missed. It redefined how action scenes and photography was done. It redefined that any goofy looking guy could be the best action star thanks to sensational special effects. The special effects are mind boggling and even now I cant see anything better. The sequels were disappointing but only due to the storyline. If you are into special effects then dont miss any of the three parts.

totally unbelievable.

what can i say about this one? had me lost from the outset a lot of noise and bullets, could not get the gist of what it was all supposed to be about and should have been vapourised before it was released

Really weird - no real story- don't know why it was the "in" movie to watch

This movie is ok. The concept is better than the actual movie. I did enjoy this movie but wish the sequels did not exist because the mediocre attempts to roll the trilogy into a coherent and most of all believable storyline tainted my taste for this adventure. The acting is good and special effects quite good in this and the others but I dunno it just lacks something that I cant put my finger on. I know I will probably be berated from the millions of Matrix fans out there by saying this but in saying that, people shouldn’t say a trilogy was good on the back of a quite good 1st and quite uninspiring 2nd and 3rd (ahh… can someone say “Highlander”). But overall, it’s a good, watch-able, enjoyable movie especially if you like Keanu (who seems to play himself in every movie he is in except for the Bill and Ted movies).

The biggest problem with the Matrix is that the action sequences stink. And since that's really the main reason for watching it, the film basically fails. It does have however have an excellent cast (excluding Reeves of course) in Fishburne, Moss, Joe Pantoliano and Hugo Weaving who add a lot to the movie. The story itself is alright (if pretty chessy).

This movie was the beginning of a new era in Cinema. There is so much more to it than Good vs evil. Not a movie for a simple veg out. take some time to look at the Philosophies behind it.

Most likely one of the best Sci-Fi movies ever made. Classic action / Sci-Fi movie, great cast, great soundtrack and a great storyline and even some Aussie appearances. This movie is not too be missed by anyone. Brilliant.

Enjoyed watching this movie for the special effects and the usage of local Sydney skyscrapers and locales. Acting is a little disappointing as is the storyline. Basically begs the viewer to ask the question what is real. This concept in movies or novels is not new. If it were not for the stunning visual effects this rather at times glib,too sci-fi movie would not rate as well. If however you want a more humane,funnier view of memories being erased and blurring of reality/unreality see the weird love movie "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind"

I had never seen any of the matrix movies. But after watching the first one I can't wait to watch the second one. Very interesting concepts and movie.

Definately worth watching

Wonderful movie and scarily something that could be believable. The acting was superb and the story line fantastic, although may not be for those uninterested in sci fi.

It's just something different.. a mix of action and sci-fi put together appealing to all... the idea of the matrix is amazing...

Wow is the first word that comes to mind after seeing this movie. It was one of those great leaps in movie that happen every so often. Buff Keanu at his absolute best. This movie epitomises cool in the nineties.

There are many parts to this groundbreaking movie. At times it seems like a video game. Other times it's a love story. It delves into Nihilism, touches on old fables, appears to get some ideas from various religions without directly mentioning any of them. All in all, it is a movie you will have to watch many times to fully appreciate it. I know I did.

A terrific film that breaks the mould. It set the standard for future action and adventure films.

This movie must not be missed. What a fantastic concept! It is a movie for bright minds. A movie for people that can graspt the concept of a unique and extraordinary virtual world where humans are enslaved. Some people might say that it's based on the Terminator ... where machines rule the world, however this movie is different. Whereas the Terminator is more focused on time travel and the life of one little boy, the Matrix is much more. Not only is it a concept, tt is spiritual, in a sense that it defines humanity, reality and the dark side of human evolution.

Avoided watching this very hyped movie for some time but now I have seen it I was impressed, very slick graphics. Looking forward to improved story-lines and dialogue in the sequels.

Not a bad one to watch...I would recommend it if you have some time to spare and is looking for some excitement.
