Lie. Cheat. Steal. Rinse. Repeat.

Meet Roy (Nicolas Cage) and his protégé Frank (Sam Rockwell), a couple of small- time con artists (aka “Matchstick Men”) who are on the verge of their most lucrative swindle. Roy’s private life, however, is not so successful. An obsessive-compulsive agoraphobe (and chainsmoker) with no personal relationships to call his own…until he learns he has a 14-year old daughter Angela (Alison Lohman). Now, Angela wants in on the partnership – but that could seriously jeopardize Roy’s peace of mind, not to mention his whole way of life.

The movie was not as extremely mild as the OCD and agoraphobia Cage's character suffers from.

Enjoyable movie and quite clever. Nicolas Cage plays the part well with good support. Only a little bit slow at the start, otherwise pretty entertaining.

This movie is awesome. Very clever with lots of twists. I highly recommend this movie for all Nicholas Cage fans and for those who have not seen many of his movies.

Pretty good film that rejuvenates the 'sting' genre by giving it a modern twist in the odd character played by Cage. 3.5 stars

Maybe I'm just not street savvy, but the only thing I thought was worthwhile about this unutterably stupid movie was that it brought about a good case for gun legislation in the US. Otherwise, forget it.

Loved that I knew nothing about this film before settling down to watch it, which probably amped up my rating a bit. Given that I missed any of the ensuing hype, it was a surprise hit. Nic Cage is brilliant and made me reminisce about my own retentive qualities! Young actress in it is also believable and it's a fresh take on an old formula. Highly recommended.

Nicholas Cage as Roy, the chain smoking, obsessive-compulsive con man pulls off the ultimate cinematic deception: an excellent performance. This quirky comedy is highly entertaining and multi-layered, has unpredictable twists and even a palatable moral message despite an unlikely role reversal. It’s much better than I expected after several Cage disappointments.

A terrible film. Completely ridiculous and hopeless. Ridley Scott has always been a pretty rubbish filmmaker (Blade runner and Thelma and Louise are two of the most over-rated films in modern times) but this movie takes the cake. David Stratton is funny, he's being watching movies for so many years and still doesn't have a clue.

An enjoyable movie, "feel good" but not too sentimental. There is quite a lot of humour in revealing the ingenious scams of the con men. It explores the ups and downs of the parenting efforts of a fairly inept father, trying to cope with newly rediscovered 14 year old daughter. Nicholas Cage is less convincing as an obsessive compulsive, and this is not his best role.

If you like Nicolas Cage then shouldn't miss this movie. He is outstanding as a obsessive compulsive sufferer who is also a small time conman. He is supported very well by Sam Rockwell who always adds something special to his roles. The girl who plays the daughter is also very good.

Simply an amazing film and result, however in no way does Alison Lohman who was 24 at the time of filming resemble a believable 14 year old, this aside unforgettable movie.
