Tommaso and Giula are falling in love. Barbara and Marco are falling out of love. Ornella’s husband is with another love. Geffredo has been abandoned by his love.

A box-office smash in Italy, The Manual of Love is a charming, bittersweet comedy about the mysterious nature of love. The ups and downs of relationships are chronicled through four intertwining episodes, each one played out by a different couple. The innocent, dreamlike stage of falling in love; the heart wrenching phase of relationship crises; the impulsive and frenetic epiphany of betrayal; the lonesome, tragic freefall of being abandoned, sweet and moving, romantic and funny.

Chick flick with a difference
says
Italian movie with English subtitles. It starts like a chick flick and also ends like a chick flick, but fortunately the middle part is slightly more interesting, showing in a fast paced manner some interesting relationships in crises, with a touch of comedy. I liked especially the character of an energetic traffic policewoman. Probably deserves 3 stars.

good concept (not 'may be innocent', as a reason to oppose capital punishment, but the act of killing should not be engaged in. Great acting talents. But somehow didn't click. Tell me why? the script maybe...must have been a disappointing experience for them.

A very enjoyable comedy, with moments of heart-breaking drama, that looks at various stages of love. The characters are wonderfully acted, have great depth, and draw you into their lives. A great way to spend two hours.

Clever segues from one story to the next, but it seemed a shame not to go back to the earlier ones. Lots of funny moments in each story, and each was well done, but somehow the whole isn't as good as its parts - so a little disappointing in the end.
