MEDIUM LEVEL VIOLENCE
A soldier for hire is contracted by a wealthy American family in Mexico City to protect their young daughter. The man forms a bond with the young girl until she is eventually kidnapped for ransom.
Now, the man will stop at nothing to free the girl and make her kidnappers pay for their deeds.

a little slow at first, but the rest of the movie made up for it, i thought plenty of action, edge of seat stuff , the actual discs audio was shocking , same as babel , the first 40 mins was ok then it was the same, all over the place,.

Denzel Washington is much better in Training Day and The Book of Eli. Story was ok but ruined by the ending, can guess whats gonna happen before it does through most of the film. Creative film making by Tony Scott and Denzel always plays darker characters well with great violence and ruthlessness to support.

The short version: This is a good movie, that is well worth watching. Denzel Washington's solid performance provides the gravity to hold the film together.
The longer version: The film *needs* holding together, because at times it seems as if they weren't quite sure what kind of movie they were making. Was this supposed to be a gritty and realistic portrayal of the mean streets of Mexico City, or a religio-superstitious tale of redemption through miracles? The "happy ending" felt very unrealistic and "tacked on", draining much of the tension out of the last part of the story.

I found this movie very good. It highlights the different crimes that are committed in different countries and how easy even with protection things can happen. Based on truth makes you more aware of all your surroundings even in a comunity you know.

This movie was weird. Overly violent in the second half but sweet in the first.
Might be too much for some and sometimes the violence seems far too extreme and unnecessary. Acting is good though but be warned it is a movie of 2 parts.

If you are a fan of Denzel then a great movie. If not then perhaps it is not so good as the story is just not believable even though it is apparently based upon real life but perhaps some poetic licence was allowed!

A good movie with some surprises, although definitely not for those who faint at the sight of blood. There are some predictable moments,and others that seem to go unexplained. That is until you see the alternatiive ending and deleted scenes in speceal features. A wonderful performance from Dakota Fanning.

Critically reviled, but visceral, brutal, uncompromising filmmaking. Manipulative, maybe, sadistic, sure, but I was sucked in. The improvised scenes between Fanning and Washington are amazing. A guilty pleasure.

Fantastic, although typical Denzel Washington performance. Refreshing new characters, and the kidnapped child is played brilliantly by Dakota Fanning.
Definite recommended viewing, although high levels of violence excused by reciprocity.
