A merciless Korean gang messes with the wrong guy when they kidnap his neighbour’s kid. Better than average crime drama that has its moments but is generally par for the course. 3.5 stars
What kind of dolts see a foreign title with a story set in a foreign country with foreign actors and then expect it to be in English?!
Would have been nice to be warned it was in another language, i watched about 20 mins and got sick of reading subtitles...... how can you watch a movie properly amd get into it if ur too busy reading sub tiltes...... if i wanted to read i would have gotten a book.
I enjoyed this film, thoroughly. It has atmospherics, rhythm, and, to me, is very believable. Working out of Hong Kong, decades ago, a colleague was just like Won Bin: his height, his looks; the office girls went wild about him. And his temperament and demeanour was just like the Cha Tae-sik character: hardly talked, and was reticent. He was a superb financial analyst; his investment results were stellar. He went to the gym, and practiced that particular Hong Kong martial art, Wing Chun, religiously. “Makes me think better”: mens sana in corpore sano. The Cha Tae-sik character here is completely believable to me. I have seen people in Asia just like him. Four stars for this film.
An action packed, rock solid classic Korean revenge flick. Stylish, bad-ass and thrilling all the way through it's well worth a watch if you are at all fond of the genre. That said the first quarter flags a bit at times and is pretty slow, not really properly indicative of the later scenes.
