In the highly-anticipated sequel to Madagascar, Alex (Ben Stiller), Marty (Chris Rock), Melman (David Schwimmer), Gloria (Jada Pinkett Smith), King Julien (Sacha Baron Cohen), Maurice (Cedric the Entertainer) and the penguins and the chimps find themselves marooned on the distant shores of Madagascar. In the face of this obstacle, the New Yorkers have hatched a plan so crazy it just might work. With military precision, the penguins have repaired an old crashed plane - sort of. Once aloft, this unlikely crew stays airborne just long enough to make it to the wildest place of all - the vast plains of Africa, where the members of our zoo-raised crew encounter species of their own kind for the very first time. Africa seems like a great place... but is it better than their Central Park home?

Very poor. Shallow. Not a patch on UP. I found it was like going to the dentist and couldn't wait for it to be over.

Saw this on the big screen but happily watched it again on DVD. Just love it. The story gets a bit Lion King, but the laughs come thick and fast, especially from the no-nonsense penguins and their higher primate helpers with opposable thumbs. I think there are more laughs than many of the Pixar films in this. Casting is great and the animations is first class.

I have very little faith in sequels, however this one is a great follow up to the original film. It opens in the past, then leaps to final scenes of the first film to continue the story where it left off. Once again, it's original, funny, fast paced, and family friendly. It made me want to go back to the original film to relive the enjoyment again.

I love the Madagascar films and those wonderful characters. You'll laugh out loud at King Julian and those crazy penguins. This one has a bit of schmaltzy family stuff that Americans love so much, but it's not too in-your-face. This is a film I can watch over and over again.

Absolutely fantastic this is definitely a case of the sequel being just as good as the first. My kids are hoping I will buy this soon. Laughed from beginning to end. Great family fun.

A very enjoyable movie and it is a change to be able to watch something that doesn't have a lot of bad language and violence in it. A must see!!!

This movie is OK but really we expected more after the first one, the gags are still good and the penguins are as funny as ever but after the hilarious opening flight everything goes a bit bland (my wife even fell asleep) Kids will probably like it but not the best effort

I really loved the first Madagascar. The second one is good. I really did like it - it just didn't measure up to the high standard that the first one set.
