Strong bloody violence

Director: Robert Rodriguez
Actors: Danny Trejo, Robert De Niro, Jessica Alba, Michelle Rodriguez, Steven Seagal, Jeff Fahey, Cheech Marin, Don Johnson, Lindsay Lohan, Daryl Sabara, Tom Savini

He looked like just another day labourer from the streets, and the perfect fall guy for a crooked political assassination. But he turned out to be Machete (Danny Trejo), a legendary ex-Federale with a deadly attitude and the skills to match. Left for dead after clashing with notorious Mexican drug kingpin Torrez (Steven Seagal), Machete has escaped to Texas, looking to disappear and forget his tragic past. But what he finds is a web of corruption and deceit that leaves a bullet in a senator and Machete a wanted man. Machete sets out to clear his name and expose a deep conspiracy. But standing in his way are Booth (Jeff Fahey), a ruthless businessman with an endless payroll of killers; Von (Don Johnson), a twisted border vigilante leading a small army; and Sartana (Jessica Alba), a beautiful immigrations officer torn between enforcing the law and doing what is right. Helping Machete even the odds are Luz (Michelle Rodriguez), a sexy taco-truck lady with a rebellious spirit and revolutionary heart, and Padre (Cheech Marin), a priest who's good with blessings, but better with guns. Carving a path of bullets, blood, and broken hearts, Machete's quest ultimately leads him back to Torrez for an epic battle of revenge and redemption.

Poor production values, and went stupid in the end. Better elsewhere.

Great premise, let down by series of stupidity and lame low points.

Great movie. Some great laughs and lots of action. A lot of gore, but it kept with the storyline.

Machete wielding Mexican seeks revenge against those who set him up as a fall guy. Over the top but enjoyable action movie that is notable for its rough looking but charismatic lead. 3.5 stars

I have seen Robert Rodriguez's work before, and I felt with Machete, that he tried too hard. He tried to make it as ridiculous and gory as possible, and it just didn't work. Over the top. Did enjoy seeing Steven Seagal back on screen though.

Hmmm over the top violence, nudity, and a 'comic book' - feel. Funny at times, good fight scenes, gory at times, It made fun at the 'red neck Yankee' protecting the borders.. and the Mexicans were winning! Steven Seagal playing an overweight bad guy! :( Not my favorite choice, but yeah I it was ok .

Strange movie and how the heck it got a comedy rating a I don't know! The "hero" and I use the term loosely, was creepy and getting it on with way too much younger leading ladies. Very overacted and a trifle pathetic. Lots of gore.

worst movie i have ever seen, Steven Seagal should not be the bad guy. he is better at being the good guy and it just ruins his reputation of accepting as being a bad guy, just put a random person as the bad guy when they always do it :) all in all i didnt like it and it was just boring and its just like oh 2 babes that im going to kidnap lets have sex with them first and drug em and then oh another girl coming onto me, ill have sex with her and its just not worth watching. acting was good but can do better. Dont watch it unless u want to be bored for 1hr and 30 mins. :)

Really, really good - was hoping it owuld be a good movie, but had my doubts. If you like action with abit of blood being sprayed around; you'll love this. Can be likened to a Tarrentino movie, without the rubbish.

If you enjoy extreme bloodshed, gore and violence, then this one is for you. Nevertheless, this picture has a couple of noteworthy firsts - 1) Steven Segal losing big time in a fight 2) Getting Jessica Alba to kiss (ptui!) Danny Trejo. Those alone are worth 3 stars.

Machete is not the best offering from Robert Rodriguez but, as usual with his films, it's still a lot of fun with many very famous faces playing roles that you usually couldn't imagine them agreeing to.

Quite possibly the worst movie I have ever watched. Bad acting, no story and excessively violent. If you enjoy watching people being beheaded over and over again, this movie is definitely for you.

Needs to be watched in the spirt in wich it was made Grindhouse. This started out as a fake preview for the cinema release of Death Proof and Planet of Terror double feature. Made with a great cast in good humor, only with Rodriguez genius can we see all the scenes from his preview of a movie never made fit in with the finished vision. Now bring on Eli Roths Thanks Giving.

If you liked 'Desperado' and 'Once Upon a Time in Mexico' then chances are you are already a Rodriguez fan and you will like this. There's more of everything. Maybe a bit too much more, but it's offset by some very real comments about society and, of course, Michelle Rodriguez. Extremely violent and extremely silly, but very likeable nevertheless. There are lots of 70's film references.
