The best thing about this movie is its uniqueness. Other than that I thought the plot pretty thin, and not as humorous as I had expected.

An important issue no doubt, but trying to mix humour with the portrayal of the plight asylum seekers just doesnt work well. Very funny in parts, clever in others. But doesnt cut it as a comedy-drama!

An interesting movie. Expected a disaster but the only disaster was the appearance of a illegitimate family member in the last scene.

The dialogue and acting in this movie are first rate but the plot is implausible at times which detracts a little from the overall enjoyment. However, it's worth a watch for the characters who are all beautifully created and performed.

I would have liked to be more positive about this movie but it became very tedious. It is the story of a group of both Cambodian and Iraqi refugees dropped off by an Indonesian fishing boat in the middle of the West Australian coast. Then the Indonesian boat sinks and its crew of three are also wandering around in the desert. They all have endless arguments and fights about where to go, but don't seem to have the simplest idea of working out from the sun about whether they are going north or south. Then there is the laid back group of Australian Army reservists who are trying to round them up but are almost as hopeless. The movie seemed unsure as to whether it was trying to make some humanitarian point or just wanted to play it all for laughs. On both counts it was an unfortunate failure.

While set against authentic and beautiful Australian wilderness scenery, the whole story seems vaguely unreal and contrived. There are also big jumps in the storyline and you’re left wondering what happened with the unfinished stories. The movie sensibly has foreigners speaking to each other in their own languages, with the subtitles very naturally and intelligently placed. On the other hand, the three main characters, with English their only common language, speak it far too well to be credible for their origins.

this is a fantastic movie, a warm and funny film about harsh topics like the outback, its people and refugees.

This is a terrific little movie, fresh, fun, with politics and heart, yet something that could almost have been made 20 years ago.
