“My name is Salmon, like the fish. I was fourteen years old when I was murdered.” Based on the best seller by Alice Sebold, The Lovely Bones tells the story of a murdered young girl, the quest to find her killer and Susie’s passage into the hereafter. Directed by Peter Jackson and starring Rachel Weisz, Mark Wahlberg, Susan Sarandon, Stanley Tucci (unlucky to lose out at the Oscars for his sinister turn as Mr Harvey) and newcomer Saoirse Ronan, this film is a heartbreaking visual treat. Bonus Features (Blu-ray only) include a feature length making-of documentary presented as a diary of the actual film shoot. Presented and narrated by Peter Jackson this is an intricate look at the film making process.

I really only wanted to give this two and a half stars. I enjoyed it but I agree with Kristie it could have done without some of the silly stuff.

I loved this. I'm not quite so sure about all the fanciful beauty of the "in-between" scenery etc, but it didn't take away from the film as a whole. Very different with great acting and some very sinister moments, which made it quite strange but excellent all the same.

Quite a touching film. Very sad yet magical at the same time. Acting is superb, the scenes in heaven look unreal, very mystical. Some on-the edge-of-your-seat moments, but some slower scenes will have you looking at your watch. Not the type of film i'd expect from Peter Jackson, but a great film non-the-less.

Fairly good movie although not what i expected.Would have been better if there was less silly stuff about the place that's between die'ing and reaching Heaven.Nice way to put it though.
