Love In The Time Of Cholera (2008)

Javier Bardem is wonderful. This is truly a great piece of film history. The acting, locations, direction, music. It's all very special.

I was expecting much less after reading the reviews. I liked seeing some Colombian actors and listening to the Colombian music, and that at least some of it was filmed in Cartagena. I think it was a good effort considering how difficult it must be to adapt Gabriel Garcia Marquez' books to films

Slow going and a disappointment

Such a boring load of rubbish - no real plot, waste of time watching it.

A major, major, major disappointment compared to the book...

A good movie for a wet or boring winters day. Long and interesting and very enjoyable for the older viewer I think. Godd acting, nice settings.

Blah. The lead actress couldn't even keep her accent straight from one scene to the next. Is she Spanish? British? American?

Loved this film, so romantic. Excellent

A long, slow moving film, about two young people who fall in love and are then separated by war, cholera and marriage. Many years later, they are reunited and fell in love again. A nice ending.

This movie, although was a bit slow at times, was quite a jouney. It was bleak at times, but I found it interesting and heartfelt. I'm glad it ended well.

I very much enjoyed the story, but the ageing makeup was lacking, which was a real shame.

This is a pretty faithful adaptation. The structure of the novel is well reflected in the movie, and the locations and characters were well translated. I especially enjoyed Javier Bardem here, although he is always good in whatever he is in.

I agree with Anita S.The make up was shocking,the storyline and dialogue was weak and I switched off after half an hour. I couldnt bear to watch anymore of this drivel!

A beautifully filmed and well acted production. Has a great cast. A film for the ladies, or for more sensitive, romantic men. Javier Bardem was terrific in the main role. A fairly slow moving film, but this suits the point of the film...a man waiting for his one true love. Quite funny and an enjoyable, romantic watch. Choice of female lead was the weakest point of the film I thought...she was very hard to age- in terms of her youthful beauty and her acting skills, hence one other viewer's comment about the bad makeup.....

Hard to comment due to turning this off after 10 minutes. Lame acting, poor make-up. Save your time and enjoy something else instead!

Nice movie. Worth seeing.

Excellent movie, and cast. I was taken with it from start to finish. Shows you how determination can get you what and who you want! I loved the scenery and inside the houses shots. And the period costumes. A great movie and I find the actor Javier Bardem chooses some interesting movies to act in. He does a great job. Well worth watching a couple of times.

I found it very difficult to engage with this film. Perhaps it has something to do with the ridiculous story, or maybe the woeful make-up.
