Fantastic sets and costumes, otherwise dead boring!

I can't say I was overly keen on the actors portraying the Phantom and Christine, but overall I enjoyed this and found myself, as a first time viewer, drawn into the story quite quickly.

The storyline does not make justice as a continuation to the original The Phantom of the Opera. Very disappoiting to see so many illuminati symbolism throughout the play, they just killed the whole production to me.

Disappointing. Dragged in the beginning and never really developed the power of POTO. None of the music stood out as something which would replay in your head the moment the title was mentioned - what happens in your mind when I mention "Wishing You Were Somehow Here Again" or "Music of the Night"? Not with this one. My wife was elsewhere in the house and was mystified by my listening to opera, which doesn't do much for me - that is the overriding impression with the music.

This new production of Love Never Dies and its presentation on Bluray HD is brilliant with stunning cinematography. The new production is taut and fluid and the storyline and characters interactions make a lot more sense. The humanity(and frailty)of the characters is developed, particularly the Phantom. The production has strong musical integrity and the Australian cast across the board is brilliant. The DVD/BD is set to inject the production with a new international life. Seen the London production and twice in Australia, and have the Bluray. Many people have dismissed the original LND production and the subsequent reworked UK version based on what seems to be a fear that somehow the original "Phantom of the Opera" was compromised. This Australian version has not been seen in London - it was redesigned,choreographed and generally reinvigorated in Australia to huge success on the stage. Hopefully people will view this DVD(or better still BD) with an open mind, and that the success this version has already had, will encourage Lloyd-Webber to open it on Broadway and maybe even again in the UK. As far as the DVD goes, I have no doubt this will be considered one of the best filmed versions of a staged production!

excellent music follwing on from the phantom of the opera

Slow and boring. Definitely NOT the quality of the original phantom

"Love Never Dies" is definately not another "POTO," and this Phantom is definately not as enigmatic and magnatic as before(now the new Phantom is simply a masked musical talent). Webber has aged, so this is rather like an old poet intones the love and time that passed and never returned. Don't get me wrong: "Love Never Dies" is still a great musical, with world-class production, young and competent cast and mesmeric music. It no doubt worths the time and money if you go to the theatre for a enjoyable evening or just watch it as a DVD. However, it simply cannot better the grandeur of "POTO," which was created by the poet back when he had much ambition and energy. I listened to the OST on CD beforehand, at first the songs and music seemed not so fantastic as expected. But, over the weeks it turns out the music and songs are stuck in my mind, and they felt better and better. Webber, the real Angel of Music, has done it again.

Dear Mr Webber, I just lost two hours of my life watching this dull days of our lives soap opera.The mighty phantom has become a bit of a joke it appears. What's with the leftover staging from the Alice Copper concert? The songs are forgettable and the weak final act ..... Ok so l'll get my refund on this show and Jesus Chist Superstar Rises thanks.
