Eight-year-old Sophie is the girl on the bus that everyone teases. Julien is the little boy that comes to her rescue. He, too, is an outcast of sorts, struggling to cope with the loss of his dying mother. Together, they invent an outrageous game of Dare to keep their spirits alive. Their game becomes a glorious mutual addiction. It binds them together as it tears them apart. As their feelings for each other grow through childhood into adulthood, each must decide if they are willing to finally acknowledge their love for each other. But can they ever stop playing the game?

A lightweight comedy/drama that just didn't convince me it was serious. Sometimes these french movies are like this and I think it can be the translation of the subtitles. It wasn't terrible but just a bit too flippant about some of the issues to be taken seriously.

A curiously entertaining film. Not for those who like their films straight-up, but I enjoyed it. Unusual romantic storyline, attractive and charismatic leads, and plenty of drama to keep you emotionally involved. The concrete bit had me quite distressed for a few minutes, until I saw the final scene.

Yes a French film and with good performances from both lead actors, but that's about it. A long drawn, and at time confusing love story, which I found often quite weird. Not the best film from the French - others are better.

Pretty good example of your French art house (by our standards anyway) type of flick. Good to see they don't have to conform with Hollywood norms!

Wicked humor, great and intelligent to watch, can´t be taken too serious. Did they die in the concrete?

Terrible. So, the French can get it wrong after all. Maybe one for the younger (teenaged) watchers, but I'm not even sure of that.

A strange black comedy but with plenty of Gallic humour.

This pair don't care what a trail of destruction they leave behind them as long as they can keep inflicting more trauma on each other and not surrender to their feelings. It is fun and cute at the beginning until they start seriously ruining lives. Dialogue is a bit contrived in places. I guess it is intended to be allegorical, especially the concrete bit. I enjoyed the movie and cared about the characters, though they are way out of my league in game playing.
