Mitchell (Colin Farrell), a South London criminal, is released from Pentonville Prison after three years for grievous bodily harm. Determined to not be imprisoned again, Mitchell resists attempts to get him involved in the criminal enterprises of long time friend Billy (Ben Chaplin).
A reclusive model and film star, Charlotte (Keira Knightley), is residing in a Holland Park mansion. She offers Mitchell a job as her bodyguard and handyman.
Crime boss Rob Gant (Ray Winstone) sees Mitchell's value and aggressively pursues him to become part of his gang.

Movie is realistic and engaging. Dares to be different to the predictable mainstream, has some excellent acting and hits the mood of the subject matter spot on. Language is appropriate and in no way over the top for an R rated gangster movie. Would have given it 5 stars were it not for the ending, but otherwise kept me gripped, loved it!

The story was pretty good - but spoiled by lots and lots of really gross language! It's an English film; so the pace and tone is not like the Yanks would make - but then I like pommy films and think that the Yanks lose it a lot of the time? Don't watch it with the kids - or impressionable teenagers because it is very violent; but if you have some maturity and are able to see it for what it is - a movie, then you might enjoy it. Really unnecessary language though! Steve

It was an enjoyable film to watch at home kind of a a B Grade Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels (except no real emphasis on humour) with a couple of borrowed treatments - case in point and somewhat ironically as I am typing the movie Leon The Professional (Luc Besson) is suggested as an alternative.
It is a good (ish) guy drawn into a bad situation by the "F***K-ups" of friends and attentions of psychotics. In this way it parallels a movie I saw at the same time equally watcheable Middle Men.
Along the way I lost the plot a little bit and it has some bad character choices. If you want a cleverer similar movie watch the BBC tele-series The Shadowline.

this is just another movie where you watch the frames rolling one by one in front of you, giving you the feeling of something happening... surelt they do... but actually they are without any meaning... There is nothing in this movie you will miss if you watch it. I reckon it is a wast of time, unless you do the ironing and you need something on TV to go on... Maybe you want to see your favourite actress or actors in a diffrent movie, what you cannot find anywhere else... sure why not if you have plenty of time and you will watch another movie afer this one to feel better... I didn't like the ending too, it's without a 'happy ending'...
Well watch it if you want to see what this movie is all about, but without expecting anything...
