I really enjoyed this movie, though it took sitting through the first half to warm to it. Morgan Freeman did it in "Bruce Almighty" and in this one, Whoopi gives it a go, but it strangely works. Yes, something heartwarming and fun to be found through the pain and I think that's worth all four stars. Kate Hudson shines in her role as Marley.
a beautiful story, would highly reccomend
More painful than a colonoscopy. Sorry but this didnt do it for me. Awkwardly and improbably bouncy given the subject matter, a cliched, implausible plot, annoying shoehorning in of the spirituality message, zero chemistry between the leads and an offensive trivialisation of the final stages of cancer.
Sad but enjoyable to watch
I enjoyed this movie but I saw 50/50 the week before which kinda spoilt the movie as it has the exact same story.
Good acting lovely movie.
My partner and I have been saying "when are we going to watch a really good movie again" after weeks and weeks of duds. At the end of this we both turned to each other and said "that was a good movie". Lots of tears but we LOVED it!
Good story and handled very well by script writers, director and actors. It's a fun movie with a bit of a teary ending so only one tissue needed. An independent young woman finds she has colon cancer and is forced to allow others to love her. She has a collection of wacky friends, annoying parents and now a new and very serious boyfriend. My only problem was that Marley seemed a little too wacky and all her friends were even wackier and her parents were both extreme characters. Where were the 'normal' people? The story line covered it all but it did seem that someone had decided to have one gay black guy, one male dwarf prostitute, one crazy artist friend, one pregnant friend, a remote father etc.
A tear jerker! Make sure you have a box of tissues handy.
Great story line, Funny, Sad, But well worth the watch..
This was a beautiful movie of courage and hope. Kate was faced with dying early in life with cancer but instead of going to pieces she lived life to the fullest and even found a good looking young doctor to spend her last days with. It has given me a new plan if every I was given that news.
Wow .... Finally her doing a serious role ... It was a little a bit predicable ... but breathtaking!
Everyone needs a reality check every now and then and this movie definately fits this category. Tear jerker thats for sure. I've always been a kate hudson fan so may be biased but I think she did a great job at playing this part and I quite enjoyed it. WARNING- have tissues on hand!!
I really wasn't sure what to expect with this movie. Movie about cancer, serious potential to be a complete downer. But it was easy to watch. Kate Hudson plays the role well and it was good to see her looking genuinely unwell as opposed to 'rom-com unwell'.
The bloke who plays the doctor under plays the geeky, young doctor and so the interaction between them works really well.
I watched it with my husband who groaned when he saw the title and that it had Kate Hudson in it, but he not only stayed awake through the whole thing, but also said he enjoyed it too.
What a lovely film. Very sensitive subject matter handled really well. Tear jerker for me - enjoyed it immensely - well worth a view.
Kate Hudson arrives as a serious actor. Though this story is predictable it is told so very well. Kate Hudson plays her part with seriousness but handles the humour like a pro. Great feel good movie
Well an all-rounder sort of movie well played and great script really, very sad, but some funny parts too, really enjoyed it.
I liked this movie, bit of a sad one, be warned! Lots of great acting, and I loved the closing couple minutes.....
Great movie - a real tear jerker though...
Not a bad movie, but not really anything that hasn't been done before. Good acting all round.
**** warning - this movie is a tear jerker *******
am not a Kate Hudson fan - but this movie was brilliant - well written, great script and supporting cast - and have to admit Kate Hudson shone - abeit playing a dying person.
A real tear jerker.... but we all need a reality check every now and then!
Definitely a chick flick. Kate Hudson is fantastic, as per usual. Girls, get the tissues ready!
All round a good movie BUT there were some parts in there that would've been better left out....didnt really add to the storyline and seemed a bit irrelevant.
I really enjoyed this movie. Anything with Kate Hudson in it is usually pretty good. A bit of a sad one though.
I hardly ever give a 5 star rating but I loved this film. Kate Hudson was fantastic as usual and it wasnt just a typical romance movie. Funny and sad and loved the minor actors in the film.
My initial thought was chick flick, and pretty much predictable, but at the end I did shed a few tears though. Beautiful story depicting life and love. Really makes me think about my life and living it in its full potential. Laugh more, love more, live more!
A bit of a fizzer movie for Kate Hudson. Can't say much about her male co star either.
Lovely movie funny, sad but leaves you feeling 'good'! Kate Hudson is, as usual perfect in her portrayal of a beautiful young women successful, happy, though with major commitment issues who finds out she has terminal colan cancer. The storyline is predictable but beautifully done as she comes to terms with her parents divorce, her own death and trying 'NOT' to fall in love with her handsome young doctor.
Wouldn't hesitate to recemmend this movie highly, much more than just a 'Love Story' still that is the movie it reminded me of! ! !
