Hidden beneath the monolithic New York Metropolitan Library is a repository for humanity’s greatest secrets. From the Golden Fleece to the Ark of the Covenant, every enigma and artefact from every known and unknown civilisation is protected from the forces of evil who, given the chance, would use the priceless treasures for their nefarious plans. Only one man can keep them safe: The Librarian.

Having spent his life ensconced within the cloisters of academia, uber geek Flynn (Noah Wyle, ER) finally finds a use for his encyclopaedic knowledge of the obscure and esoteric when he's selected to join the mysterious order of Librarians. But this is no quiet desk job; on his very first day, The Serpent Brotherhood steal a fragment of the Spear of Destiny, the spear used to pierce the side of Christ, and it’s Flynn’s job to get it back! With a sexy Amazon bodyguard Nicole (Sonya Walger, Coupling), he must journey to the most exotic, inaccessible and treacherous corners of the earth on a mission to recover the spear - a mission that will determine if the nervous but charming Flynn really has what it takes to be a superhero.

An action packed comedy adventure from Dean Devlin, the Writer/Producer of Independence Day and Stargate.

This is a fun, silly movie. It has a very strange way of mixing magic and reality, this works because the movie doesn't take itself at all seriously. A great light-hearted movie- and i am looking forward to the sequels.

This movie is definitely tongue-in-cheek stuff. Good fun and worthy of a watch if you are in the mood to watch a movie that isn't too 'deep'. :)

The Librarian does for TV movies what Indiana Jones does for film. Noah Wile from ER, is perfect in his role. I can't wait for the 3rd film to be released!

We really enjoyed this film. Great imagination carried off well by the actors. It is a bit like Indiana Jones crossed with Lara Croft Tomb Raider. It may not be quite up there with the quality of those productions, but it holds its own quite well. If you enjoy adventure movies with supernatural themes, then you will probably love this one.

Sorry, the story had potential but the acting was so weak and no great attentioned paid to the story line. Many of the actors in this movie has had success in other shows so I was very disappointed with their acting abilities. Noah Wyle is not cut out for comedy and if you are a fan of Noah, you may be left wanting.

Yeha some interesting things to it. Mildly amusing. Youngish man (ok 30s that is young isn't it?) who has been in academia his whole life is forced to get a job. He succeeds and finds out he is The Librarian. The Librarian looking after many rare artefacts that many believe have disappeared or been lost. The spear is stolen on his second day and it is his job to get it back (oh yeah and for some reason go and featch the 2 other parts so he can lead the bad man to them) Ahem anyway

This is an ideal film for those who like the Lara Croft genre. It gently pokes fun at archaeologists and Indiana Jones. The movie was great fun and Bob Newhart plays a cameo role. There is a word that a sequel is to be made, which is a good thing. So suspend your imagination, look for the references to other great heroes and enjoy!
