Director: Richard Donner
Actors: Mel Gibson, Gary Busey, Danny Glover, Darlene Love, Traci Wolfe

With over seven minutes of previously unavailable scenes, the director's cut of Lethal Weapon is a long-overdue present for fans. Riggs' solitary homelife and the tragic loss spurring him to a reckless disregard for his own safety now come into greater focus. We see that recklessness in new scenes underlining the differences between the two cops. Murtaugh, just 50, needs reassurance about his skills at a firing range. Riggs, not caring if he sees another birthday, coolly walks into a schoolyard sniper's field of fire. All the humour and adrenaline that made this original an entertainment milestone are here, too. No scenes have been removed. But new action and new insight are now included. Include yourself in the excitement.

It's been over twenty years since I've seen this movie and after watching it in 2012, it's really stood the test of time. For a film made in the 80's it doesn't rub in the fashion statements of that decade, which is a plus in its favour. Strange now, however, to see Mel looking so young and fit. I had a sense while watching it that this film and its sequels set a kind of precedent for tv cop shows with various facets that include clever use of humour, defining of character and relationship between characters. It's a great flick.

Mel Gibson at its best. The crazy cop... looking forward to #2 :D Two unlikely cops partnered up. The one 50 and by the book, the other wild and 'crazy' All around Christmas time... Fav quote of this movie: "I am to old for this sh!t" Pleny of Action and one liners! A star less, bec the theme/format is now a little aged and over used .....

Loved it! But the swearing was terrible... Too much! I remember Riggs crazier that that, but still a good action movie, I remember number 2 is even better.

The first of a great series of buddy cop movies. Mel Gibson is fantastic is the slightly unstable but extremely effective cop Martin Riggs whilst Danny Glover plays his older, wiser, more risk averse but equally determined to get the bad guy sidekick. Great car chases, great fights, good one liners make for a good action flick. Watch for the scene where Gary Busey doesn't flinch as his pscho boss holds a cigarette lighter to his forearm to show test his loyalty - this spawned many such repeats in pubs in the years after.
