Academy Award winning director Robert Redford (A River Runs Through It, The Horse Whisperer) brings to life the story of Rannulph Junuh, (Matt Damon - The Talented Mr Ripley, Saving Private Ryan), a promising young golfer who loses his swing after he experiences the harrowing frontlines of war. Once considered Savannah's greatest sportsman and favourite celebrity, Junnuh had won the heart of the town's prettiest heiress, Adele Invergordon (Charlize Theron - Men of Honour, Devil's Advocate). But when he returned from war, he was a defeated man, giving up both golf and Adele for the sake of alcohol.

When Junuh is given a chance to redeem himself by competing in a celebrity golf tournament, he must first regain his swing and his self-respect. It will take a miracle, in the form of a mysterious caddy named Bagger Vance (Will Smith - Wild wIld West, Men In Black), for Junuh to get his game back as well as his life.

Absolutely wonderful piece of cinema with pearls of wisdom sprinkled throughout. A visual, emotional and psychological delight and highly recommended.

A movie (10 years old) about a broken heart, a broken spirit, soul searching and finding yourself all entwined around a game of golf. Quality actors in Smith, Damon & especially Charlize Theron (I love her acting.) Story line is uplifting, a bit thin but enjoyable. The romantic sub theme link between Damon & Theron is shallow as is the arrival of Smith playing a mythical type character that appears out of nowhere full of philosophical advice on life. You don???t need to understand golf to enjoy this movie but it would help so as to understand the integrity required to play the game. Lovely period costumes and great scenery overall a good nights entertainment. 3+ stars .

Still interesting if not a golf fan. All the actors add to the story and well directed by Redford. It was good to look at a side of golf that didn't involve huge prize money.
