This wasn't that good. In fact, I got bored and could barely keep watching. It did improve near the end thankfully. Zellweger and Clooney trying to do a Gable/Russell romantic-comedy just didn't work - and they both looked old in some shots! I discovered with this movie that I HATE american football!

Definitely one for the kids. Easy to follow, lightweight plot of Kids vs environmental saboteur. Predictable plot but a safe "do good" flick that won't disturb young minds.

OMG! Boring! Big names, too bad about the script! I got half way through this one, and couldn't bare to watch any more. Give it a miss, unless you haven't slept for awhile, and want to use this as a sleep aid.

What a disappointment this movie was...just couldn't get into it...and such great actors but the story line let them down

Sadly this isn't one of George's best - what it is, is a nice comfortable picture, with a bit of quick dialogue tucked in here and there and the odd comedic moment, but not a raving good show - oh well

Not very believable. Over 40 and still playing professional football - not even George Clooney made that seem OK!

No wonder this went straight to DVD. The usually reliable George Clooney bombs out with this ill-concieved throwback to the wonderful days of screwball comedy. A comedy with few laughs about the impossible-to-understand sport of American football. I agree with the overindulgent criticism levelled at Clooney by an earlier reviewer.

The story lacked a real edge to it, it just sort of meandered along without anything dramatic really happening. The re-creation of the times is well done, but the acting gets a bit hammy at times and the slapstick scenes are pretty lame. Renee Zellweger always looks like she's either lacking fibre in her diet or has some acorns stuffed in her mouth. George Clooney basically plays himself it seems.

Another terrific movie by the cohen brothers. George & Renee show their great versatility once again, a real tongue in cheek look at the birth of the NFL.

If you like American gridiron, this might appeal. Good photography though

Mega-star GEORGE CLOONEY'S ode to 20's screwball romantic comedies and American football will be probably hard pressed to find a substantial audience unless one is a fan of either genre. The always debonair Clooney plays a veteran gridiron player and opportunist who single handedly elevates professional football to its current lofty heights while waging a war of words with a hard nosed reporter (RENEE ZELLWEGER) and a gun college recruit (a charismatic JOHN KRASINSKY.) And while there's no doubting gorgeous George's talents as a director (it looks great!) this sprightly old fashioned romp, despite its attractive cast and rapid-fire dialogue, is ultimately over indulgent and underwhelming.
