Mild sexual references and coarse language

Director: Julie Gavras
Actors: William Hurt, Isabella Rossellini, Aiden Mcardle, Kate Ashfield, Doreen Mantle, Luke Treadaway, Joanna Lumley

In writer/director Julie Gavras’ delightfully warm and wise romantic comedy, the inestimable Isabella Rossellini and Academy Award-winner William Hurt play a couple whose 30-year marriage is starting to run into trouble.

Adam (Hurt) is a London-based architect horrified to find himself the recipient of an award that suggest he’s reached the end of his career, while wife Mary (Rossellini), taken aback by an unexpected health scare, sets a course of radical action in league with her vivacious best friend Charlotte (Joanna Lumley). As Adam and Mary respond to these challenges in completely opposite and unpredictable ways (successfully infuriating each other in the process), their three adult children plot to find ways to keep them together…

With luminous supporting performances from a mix of established and upcoming British acting talent (including Simon Callow, Kate Ashfield and Luke Treadaway), Late Bloomers is an elegant and engaging portrait of marriage, and the joys and realities of getting on.

If you're having a bad day - dont' watch. Slow, depressing and if you are over 50 you will end up suicidal.

Rossellini is a marvellous actress and the theme was well constructed, The repetitive, boring music, however, was far too loud, necessitating frequent volume adjustment.

I really enjoyed this movie. My guess is that past reviews were by younger people and so this is why it got such a low rating. I am older and could really indentify with the characters. Rosselinni is superb as always and I thought Hurt played the role to a tee. The interpersonal relationship between the main characters was subtle but true to life. Direction could have been a little more adventurous but still did a great job.

Me and my Partner watched 10minutes of this and turned it off, so boring. I gave it another try on my own as I hate to be defeated watching movies. However, I too turned it off [ just a few minutes where we were up too first time of viewing.] I found it so slow dull and boring. So I cannot really give this Movie a fair rating as I did not watch very much of it.

I got this bEcause of William Hurt. I am of the age of the actors but didn't do anything for me at all. I found it hard to hear, feeling that they mumbLed and I DON'T HAVE A HEARING PROBLEM!! I related to the theme somewhat however. To say it is a comedy leaves a bit to be to the imagination. Very slow too. Disappointed. Sad that a real life situation wasnt protrayed better.

Absolutely agree with all the negative reviews. It was just mind numbing, pointless and had no direction. Frankly very depressing and these otherwise wonderful actors are frankly wasted here.

This is one of the worst movies I've rented. William Hurt's English accent comes and goes. The screen play is badly written. The acting is 2nd rate. The plot is unbelievable.

Couldn't finish watching this movie - I fell asleep out of boredom. The idea of the story was good but the action was so drawn out and slow. There were many long moments of angst and self reflection which I found hard to follow. In all, very disappointing.
