On Thanksgiving Day, 1976, five thousand cheering fans gathered for the historic farewell concert of The Band. In the words of lead guitarist Robbie Robertson, "We wanted it to be a celebration." And so it was, and is, in Martin Scorsese’s lovingly filmed record of the event. The Last Waltz is more than just a concert film. Scorsese intercuts probing, humorous interviews with the group. What emerges is a unique insider’s view into the golden age of rock. Superstars Neil Diamond, Joni Mitchell, Muddy Waters, and virtuoso guitarist Eric Clapton join The Band onstage, climaxing with the return of one-time collaborator Bob Dylan, plus ex-Beatle Ringo Starr for 'I Shall Be Released'. Also features performances from Neil Young, Emmylou Harris, Van Morrison, The Staples, Dr. John, Muddy Waters, Paul Butterfield, and Ron Wood.

Another Scorcese masterpiece. A feast for the senses. The guest performers were/are all such classics. I also watched several times, both lots of commentaries and then wish subtitles. I've learned that the words I was singing weren't the actual lyrics! Loved it.

I agree with the other reviews this was an amazing DVD. Being a 60's man knew little about "the band" the brilliance of SCORSESE introduced me to amazing musicians and the wonderful sound of the roots of rock & roll. I sent the wife out turned up the surround sound and was in heaven for the afternoon. I was so impressed played all the SPECIAL FEATURES, then turn on the subtitles and watched it again. Eric Clapton & Robbie robertson were the highlight for mine!! Hope "The band " reform like "The Eagles"

'The Band' shows a group of multi instrumentalists strutting their stuff on their last show joined by fantastic guests. Neil Young & Van Morrison look & act like I've never seen them before. Everyone looks like they are enjoying themselves & trying to put on the best show ever, & they do!

A great show for the over Forties. No rap music,no nonsense performers see the best of the 70s top artists. Neil Diamond, Neil Young, Bob Dylan, Joni Mitchell, etc. Not to be mised by the diehards. I have the Commercial one.
