If you are a true believer of the gospels, this will movie will deeply dissapoint you and upset you as it is not based on any of the gospels.
Wonderful Scorcese film of the last days of Jesus, though not based on any of the gospels but on a novel by Nikos Kazantzakis (Zorba).
Beautifully filmed (in Morocco) with a great cast. Who would have thought Willem Dafoe, Harvey Keitel and Barbara Hershey could be so compelling as Jesus, Judas and Mary Magdalene respectively? A classic.
What a load of rubbish. This is absolute crap. To be honest, I got through about 20 minutes. It is all well and good to want to explore inner self, and the dualism of christ as God and Man, but this does none of this. The first 20 mins tried to portray Christ as a jew hating, cowardly voyeur. Come on!
What a piece of garbage. If you really hate somebody tie him to a chair and make him watch this film... it would be one of the worst tortures...
Definately a nice gift for you ex!!!
Loved it. Study in the inner struggle of someone who is destined to die despite for the noblest cause, yet has been tempted with a way out... What might have been...? Great atmospheric setting and photography.
Very good movie. Even as a Christian I can understand the fundament that the book and film is based upon. One of Scorceses best movies. Wonderful score by Peter Gabriel. Top movie over all!
It is an interesting movie. focus on Jesus as a mortal man with self doubts. the film included a sex sceen between Jesus and Maria Magdalena. This was probably what moved Catholics to ban the film. Well after Dan Brown and Barbara Thiering books, this film is not offensive at all, it is for the free thinker. I enjoyed the film
utter garbage no plot director on pot forget it
