LOW LEVEL VIOLENCE

Director: Michael Mann
Actors: Madeleine Stowe, Daniel Day-Lewis, Johdi May

Director/co-writer Michael Mann's The Last of the Mohicans is a soaring story of transcendent love, an authentically detailed recreation of a turbulent era in U.S. colonial history and an exciting saga of flintlocks-and-tomahawks warfare. Daniel Day-Lewis (as Hawkeye) and Madeleine Stowe (as British transplant Cora) are lovers caught up in the tumult of the French and Indian War in this 1992 Academy Award winner set to a rapturous score by Trevor Jones and Randy Edelman.
The tale itself is a personal touchstone for Mann (Heat, The Insider): the 1936 screen version was the first movie he recalls seeing as a child. It's hard not to detect a sense of boyhood wonder in Hawkeye's outsized heroics. Here, Mann augments that with a bravura style and sweep that shows why he's one of today's most electrifying moviemakers.

One of my favourite movies. A rousing soundtrack, great story and excellent performances from all involved, particularly Wes Studi and Daniel Day Lewis.

I found this movie both breathtaking and so sad, Daniel Day-Lewis was absolutely brilliant in this movie. It was for me wonderful scenery, full of action, the story was both strong and well written. I would recommend this movie to anyone who wants to see a magnificent movie.

A great story beautifully told, photographed and acted. A liitle bit difficult to hear some of the dialogue -a minor drawback. Whatever happened to Madeleine Stowe???

Yes, if historical drama is your thing then you will love this movie. The scenery, the music, strong characters and storyline. I watched again for the first time in 6 years and it was still just as capturing as it was the first time I watched 17 years ago. I contains all the right ingredients for a timeless (but not overly commercialised) movie. My first movie ever to get 5 stars.

A stirring spectacular, yet realistic in its depiction of the plight of native americans during the 18th century. Set in exquisite wilderness, this movie is action packed, with great story lines and brilliant acting
