A well filmed movie that is moody and viciously graphic! Not for the weak of stomach! Very tense.

A truly great example of a remake and horror filmmaking. The film not only appropriately tributes the terrifying and despicable original, but also pulls a few moves that allow it to stand on its own. This is a very disturbing yet well made film not for the faint hearted.

A Brillaint remake of the 1972 Original and the best since the remake of Night of the living dead in 1990 updates the storyline nicely, drops the 2 keystone cops and deliver a decent horror/thriller. 2 teens are kipnapped by a criminal; family and are brualised but when they stay at the parent's summer house the parents find out and take revenge. Brillant acting by all and thu some have said the main lead wasnt as good as David Hess. I believed he did just a decent but different approach to Krug. The rest all act equaly as well. The direction is smooth and keeps the viewer on the edge of their seat and pulls no punches when delivering the violence. It did'nt need to add sadistic scenes of Krug says to prove it's point and worked with what counted in the 1st film. Extreame violence and gore will put off many bar loyal horror fans who pretty much are used to the gore by now. Brillant and realistic effects add to the fun. Most complaned about the ending but I thought it improved on the Original and better yet its a happy and satisfying ending. Def worth a view or review esp. both films back to back to see the improvements and a welcome change not seeing two very silly cops of whom the viewer half expected to see put a bullet thu his foot by mishap. I totaly loved this remake and this is how remakes should be made. A shining example.

Full on from about 30 min into the movie.. A heart wrenching suspense... Rape scene a bit beyond the pale.. But the bad guys get their karma returned to them in full in th end..which was really great to see!! If these characters did this to MY kids, I'd do MUCH worse!

Unforgettable remake of the movie with scenes to truly chill the heart ....and some to please the gore-fest lovers out there!!! Starting so peacefully, I found myself going through such a range of emotions as the movie progressed. Fantastic acting, particularly by Garret Dillahunt as a very bad dude! We were mesmerized to see how it all unfolded. The best and worst of humanity, and protective parenting at it's height. I would watch it again....one day...

If you are going to remake a horror you should at least be able to make it more shocking. In a politically correct world I rightfully suspected this film can only be diluted. No lesbian rape scene, everyone's penis remains attached. Would they (or could they) remake I spit on your grave? Then why remake this?

People shouldn't rate this movie low just because they find the violence distasteful. This was a very intense thriller. Graphic rape scene is quite disturbing, but the movie finishes very strongly. I would recommend it.

Like one of the comments says I'm sure why the original needed a remake but this is very well made. Has a very heavy atmosphere of opression as soon as the 'family' enter the motel room that never really lets up until the end.

Not a movie if you have a weak stomach. A particularly upsetting and graphic rape scene, and some less upsetting, but JUST as graphic violence. But despite these... was still a good little horror movie! Except for looking away a couple of times, and a bit of nautia from myself AND my partner (and this from a horror lover!) over the assault scene, it was pretty fast moving and a great story. And unpredictable!

I must be getting soft in my old-age, but I switched this off after around 30 minutes. Even the thought of brutal and graphic violence against those 2 young girls was something I couldn't (and didn't) want to prepare myself for.... Horror porn ~ Blech !

Just like the original, this movie will shock and disturb you. What turns out to be a routine family vacation goes horribly horribly wrong. Some might say this film goes too far as it's extremely realistic. The film is made up of rape, torture and murder, it is hard to get past all that, but once you do it does become a rather well made film.

Not a bad remake for once even if I don't see why they had to remake that one. Anyway a nice one that will keep you watching because of the tension felt through it.

These type of movies aren't usually my thing but this one was pretty good. I thought it would be a little more scary than gruesome.Bit it turned out the other way. The ending didnt really live up to the rest of the story. But if you like horror movies, i'd recommend it.
