This is a true story of turn-of-the-century anthropologist Alfred Kroeber (Jon Voight), who discovers the last survivor of a lost Indian tribe. Graham Greene plays Ishi, the only remaining member of the Yahi tribe. He is thought to be wild by those who find him, but Kroeber and his assistant will discover the truth and take him to San Francisco with them.
