The Last Drop (2005)

September 1944. In a daring attempt to end the war by Christmas, the British High Command hatch an extraordinary plan - Operation Market Garden - 35,000 allied troops dropped by air into German occupied Holland. In the midst of the largest airborne invasion in history, one small unit of men, codename 'Matchbox', has its own hidden agenda. The true target - sanctioned by no less a figure than Winston Churchill himself - is a vast horde of Dutch gold and art treasures, plundered by the Nazis and stored behind an impregnable booby-trapped safe, imminently bound for Berlin.

Could have done with a script; too much Zane, not enough Madsen (even though he plays a real jerk here).

This movie seems to attempt a copy of so many scenes in "Saving private Ryan", but the humour added by Billy Zane is nice welcome. To disjointed and lacks realism.

What a disappointment. As other reviewers have already said, this had the potential to be an enthralling war story, but instead we get a C grade movie, C grade acting and J grade special effects. Woeful. Give it a miss!
