Amid the chaos of pre-revolutionary China, small time thief Sing aspires to be one of the sophisticated and ruthless Axe Gang whose underworld activities overshadow the city. Stumbling across a crowded apartment complex aptly known as Pig Sty Alley, Sing attempts to extort money from one of the locals, but the neighbours are not what they appear.

Sing’s comical attempts at intimidation inadvertently attract the Axe Gang into the fray, setting off a chain of events that brings the two disparate worlds face-to-face.

What a brilliant movie. Any presuppositions about this flick being a ridiculous attempt at humour was blown away by how intelligently and craftly the fight scenes have been put together. Theyre funny, believable, and yes the actors actually look like they know what they are doing. Lots of laughs and highly entertaining.

Lovely slapstick over the top comedy. Not your usual kung fu film. Worth watching for a laugh.

This is a cheesy acting kung fu story - think naked gun type send ups only with kung fu stories. the fighting and affects are quite good and funny. this will not be for everyone. But is an interesting alternative to the kung fu movies which are serious and tragic.

First thing is first-- this is a comedy, and don't go in expecting it to be anything else. Crouching Tiger it's not. Furthermore, its slapstick humor is not for everyone, and some jokes can't bridge the cultural barrier. That being said, it's an hilarious movie with a cast of colourful characters. Despite its comedic nature, it has great action and special effects. Keep an eye out for veteran martial artists in the roles of the land-lady and landlord; despite their comely apperance, they trained under the same master (sifu) of Jackie Chan and Sammo Hung, and have the best action scenes in the movie! Not only that, they are extremely funny in their roles. I didn't find it as funny as Shaolin Soccer, personally, mostly because I think Stephen Chow's Shaolin Soccer character was more likeable and funnier. Nevertheless, this is Stephen Chow at his best. Can't wait for the sequel!

Silly story line, special fx are over done and some really bad acting. Not even worth watching for the martial arts.

Hilarious. Budget style acting. Better settings and story. Similar Recommendations: Ninja Soccer, Socu Geku, Kung Pow

The realism is as it should be seeing as how that is the way of things that follow a the line set by Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon and the real climax occurs as the ending of the film. Well worth the wait though as the story is excellent!

I thought this was great film. It was funny, poignant and dramatic. It had great action sequences, a fantastic cast, fabulous sets, brilliant photography and editing, superbly evocative music and a little metaphysics (what was that ending about?). While it was so much better than Shaolin Soccer, it was no Hero or Crouching Tiger, Hidden Tiger -- but then it didn't try to be. This is escapist entertainment at its brilliant best.

Mixed feelings in this household! My son loved it, my wife thought it was good, and me,I couldn't get into it at all. Maybe I have a different sort of sense of humour to the rest of the family. Judge for yourself, if your into (dubbed) comedy martial arts movies. In my mind it didn't work but who am I to say?

Not what I expected. I was thinking it would be something to "kung-pow". Some great fight scenes, and the occasional joke thrown in there make it watchable but not again.

Some of the acting is a bit cheesy but the special fx and action do a great job of making up for it. Very enjoyable and well worth a look.
