KRAMER VS. KRAMER is a story of contemporary relationships, values and choices. Career-driven and ambitious, Ted Kramer (DUSTIN HOFFMAN from TOOTSIE) returns home from work late one night to be told by his wife, Joanna (MERYL STREEP from OUT OF AFRICA) that she is leaving him. After a lifetime of being "somebody's daughter or somebody's wife", she is now taking off to do some soul searching. Ted is now faced with juggling his full-time career and caring for their six year old son; cooking his meals, taking him to the park and understanding his needs and fears. For the first time in his life he feels like a fulfilled parent. But then Joanna returns, and she wants her son back.

A straightforward story; no switches in time, no gimmicks, no special effects. But sad, distressing and emotional. The cleverness of the movie is that both sides elicit sympathy; neither is in the right or wrong. The acting performances are outstanding, especially by a very youthful and surprisingly beautiful Meryl Streep. Included on the DVD is the oddly titled 'Finding the Truth' feature, that has the actors reflecting on the movie 22 years later. How they have all aged!

A classic movie. With a very young Dustin Hoffman and Meryl Streep, very honest and brilliantly acted - love Dustin Hoffman's energy in the role. Step back in time with the 70's clothes and hairstyles - groovy! Learned from watching the documentary about the movie that Mr Hoffman was experiencing Divorce in his own life at the time which only enhanced his performance.

Saw it many years ago and remembered it as being very moving. Sadly, it was disappointing this time around.

A good tale exploring relationships between husband and wife when the husband is a workaholic and his wife is unfulfilled in her life.
