The King is the story of Graham Kennedy, Australia's first and greatest home grown TV superstar. It traces his rise and rise, from working class Balaclava kid, through radio, TV, film, and back to TV again. But against this backdrop of professional success it also tracks Kennedy's personal tragedies.

The King is not just about a man - it's also the story of the birth of television, a cultural phenomenon that has helped define a nation, and make us who we are today.

Portrayal of Graham was excellent but lacked anything else. Disappointed in this one.

My only recollection of Kennedy is seeing the odd episode of Blankety Blanks as a kid so I've no idea how accurate this is but it certainly gave an interesting perspective into the early days of TV and the creation of one of Australia's first super stars. Stephen Curry was excellent in the lead role, as was Shaun Micallef in his role and it was good to see these two underrated Aussies given room to shine. The writing was a little sloppy in a few spots but overall the story was very engaging and I even watched the DVD extras which is something I rarely bother with.

Although Stephen Curry's performance was admirable, the budget constraints of this biopic made the overall look of the movie amateurish and ruined the overall enjoyment of Graham's life story.
